fic writer meme

Brief Intro
Hello! I'm Frances. I'm currently finishing up my masteral studies in business, while running a laundry business, both of which should be making me too busy to write, but oh well.

What fandoms have you written in?
Harry Potter, Super Junior, SNSD, SM Town, and EXO.

Do the number of reviews tell how good a story is? Do reviews affect how you write in any way?
I don't think reviews necessarily indicate how good a story is. It's just maybe more people liked it or more people saw it and it became popular. I have to admit that reviews somehow do affect how I write, maybe in terms of what type of things to write, like fluff, angst, etc. But, overall, I tend to stick to what I want to write and how I want to write them.

Do you use a beta?
I never did for when I used to write Harry Potter or Super Junior fics. Now, I do, because it really is helpful. Thank you khrysallis1106!

What warnings have you used on your fiction?
Hmm just character death, I think.

Have you ever stolen something from another person's work?
No. Although, I think nothing is ever really original anymore. We always get ideas from somewhere and sometimes it's from another person's work. I guess it's just how you write it and express it that will be different.

Favorite fandom to write/read?
I'm writing mostly for EXO right now and I'm really having fun doing so. I also read EXO these days. Sometimes I still read SJ fics.

Favorite pairing?
Hmm, for EXO, it's BaekYeol probably, then KaiSoo and HunHan, I guess. But I pretty much read any pairing in EXO. For Super Junior, I read pretty much anything with Kyuhyun in it and EunHae.

Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters?
With EXO, I think I've been doing well mixing up my writing. I've written SeKai, HunHan, BaekYeol, KaiTao, KaiHo, SeTao, BaekYeolSoo, LuKai, KrisHan, ChenDo, KaiSoo.

Favorite writer/writers?
I don't have a particular favorite writer.

What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people find it so?
Hmm. I think with Super Junior, it's Slow Motion. It's a Kyuhyun-OC fic. I think because it was a fic based on Kyuhyun being an idol and having someone beside him who takes care of him and loves him, and I guess people liked this idea because idol life seem so lonely sometimes. For EXO, I dunno, maybe Someday Dream? Not sure, I haven't been writing for EXO that long. It's a BaekYeol fic and I guess people like BaekYeol fluff. Haha!

Forget most people, what's the fanfic you've written you're most proud of?
I am honestly proud of Slow Motion. I tried to put a lot of work and heart into it and managed to make it into something bigger than I ever expected. Also, running on the fumes that spark us (while igniting dreams), which I wrote very recently, because of personal reasons.

Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with?
It isn't particularly easy or hard. But yeah, there are struggles. I'm currently working on my descriptions and writing backstories and not just dialogues. I'd rather that things appear or are felt, rather than actually said by the characters.

Pairings you avoid?
I don't really avoid pairings. But I read few Tao fics, I noticed, as well as Xiumin fics.

Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches you can't stand or are just sick of?
Hmm. I...don't think so. I can't think of any at the moment.

Are you guilty of any of the fanfiction trends/cliches you now hate? Or any other ones?
n/a?

When you write, is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room?
I like to write in the quiet. Music distracts me. But when I need to think or need ideas, I listen to music. Or I read.

Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction experience and yourself as a writer?
It's been really, really great. I absolutely love it. It gives me a certain rush and makes me feel relaxed and really happy. That's why I tend to write a lot when I'm really stressed. But yeah, that, and writing for fandom has gained me a lot of really good friends. Of course the comments, the thought that people actually read and like what I write is a plus, especially when it fleshes out to be a discussion. It's also made me learn a lot about me and my writing, like I never thought I could write certain things before. All in all, it's a wonderful experience. :)
