And my day started out so well.
Had a party last night. Well "party" would be a little excessive - it was some friends round to dinner (Richard, Laura, Leanne, Frodo, Claire, me and Bert) and I cooked oodles of mexican food. I'm thinking the food went down well because I didn't have any left a the end.
Richard also supplied tequila (it makes me happy) and I attempted to make tequila-jelly. Yeah. You know Ghostbusters 2? The know the pink slime that makes you evil and flows in the sewers? Do I need to say more?
We were all up late and talking pretty much incessant geek-speak (I think there has rarely been so much nerdiness in one room.)
But in spite of the volumes of cider, tequila and cheap whiskey I drank last night I woke up feeling pretty damn ok. This probably had a great deal to do with the huge quantities of water I've been drinking due to the FUCKING HEAT WAVE. Seriously. It's averaged 28C over that last week and I think pretty much everyone is burned and melty.
Especially the people who watched the match in Leeds yesterday. Yes - all 7000 of them! They had a huge screen up in Millennium Square and whenever they showed it on the BBC1 coverage there, front and centre, were my parents and little sister. Yays!
And of course, England won! *cheers!* 3 mins into the game Mark asked me what I thought the score would be. I said 1-0 to us. Literally 30 SECONDS LATER we were 1-0 up! I rock at game-prediction. I also love the World Cup.
But I digress...where was I? Yes. The heat. The lack of hangover. Sweet. I woke up, I checked my flist, I read some excellent fics that I've had saved. I also took my mum for a driving lesson (I'm teaching my mum to drive!)
Then Laura came a-visiting with her external hard-drive to bring me
much musical goodness. I'm now the proud owner of all Chumbawumba's albums and pretty much anything Yoko Kana's ever written! I love Yoko's stuff when I write - somehow because it's all just music or in Japanese it creates a great mood, but doesn't distract me. I in turn gave Laura a bunch of stuff I thought she might like.
We when sat and talked for about 2-3 hours. Pretty much non-stop. About life, the universe and everything. There was almost nothing not covered, no matter how personal - and it was great. Plus there was chocolate ice cream. Dude. I love my friends so much.
Finally I went round ot my mum's to watch the final episode of season 2 Lost. We were about 10 minutes from the end when the phone rang and my dad shouted upstairs that it was Jac.
Because a lad had just smashed my kitchen window.
Long story short, there's a girl at my youngest sister's school who's been picking on her. A lot. (My mum's trying to sort that bit out...)
So Jac had just arrived back home and this girl and her friends were going past. They knew that Jac was Abby's sister and so started mouthing at her. She just ignored that, but then they started mouthing about Abby. Jac turned round and told them to get lost. She went into the house, closed the door and ignored their bangs on it. However, then one of the lads wrapped his top round his fist and punched out my kitchen window! Little shit! I don't even live in a crappy area or anything.
Anyway - pretty much everyone on the street (who were out sunning themselves) saw it and they told me where he lived. I went round and his parents were really great about it. They told me that they would pay for the replacement window, but I've still got a lovely boarded-up kitchen until the glazier can come out tomorrow to replace it. Classy eh?
I did get to see the last bit of Lost though (!!!!) but it did mean that my planned visit to hang out with Richard didn't happen. Balls.
So - nice weekend! How was yours?
