You must be psychic. I was just wondering this morning when this story would pop up, and voila! My wish is your command, evidently *g*

You know I love this, but I'll tell you again. Your characters are always beautifully fallible; perceptive like Orlando is here, but with moments of blindness that make them human. It's not obvious, and it's very real.

I'm very glad to see this posted. Wonderful job, love.

Come on, it only took me...um...6 months? *g*

I finally just had to let this one go. I was changing things every time I looked at it, and it was getting to the point where I couldn't see the story anymore, because the words were always in the way.

Thank you so much for your wisdom and insight, love. I couldn't have done this without you. <3

Was it really that long? Well, fic ages like wine, I suppose. And I've painted myself into a corner before with stories; it's tough sometimes, but you made a good decision. After using 5 (or 6?) betas, I'm impressed that you managed to hold onto your own voice so well. I shudder to think of all our converging input! Nevertheless, you're most welcome. It truly is a pleasure to read and beta your stories, dear.

Well, I started writing it in July, but I didn't send it out to be edited until September. This one has definitely aged. *g*

I learned so much from all of you, but please...never, ever let me do that again. Two's the limit. After the fourth beta I start panicking.

The pleasure is mine, love. And the honour.

I am so fiendishly in love with the setting you've got and the characters you've placed in it, I'm about to bust something. The early days and the beginnings of dynamics and the youth (and the lack thereof). The things they throw at each other and the realisations they make and the things they don't yet know about how things are going to turn out. That adds an extra dollop of poignancy to a story that's already marvellously wound about with thorns and emotions. (And I will always have a soft spot for NZ fic, probably for that reason ( ... )

My darling, my dearest...

Thank you so much. Every time we speak, you blow me away with your wisdom and insight. "The beginning of dynamics..." it reminds me of what Liv said, about how differently they seem to her now versus then...and I think you're absolutely right, that it must have been.

I want to marry your character descriptions and run away with them to New Zealand. It's like I see them anew through your eyes, and that's just amazing. Elijah didn't crack for me in this one, so I don't know everything about him...sometimes I felt like I was just writing the mask because I was having trouble seeing underneath it, and other times he would just shine through. I feel that writing is like working magic, sometimes. In what it allows you to see, and to share.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and response with me, love. You make my heart soar.

OMG OT3!!! *flails*

One day, precious. One day I'll actually do it.

Writing like working magic. Oh, I love that. It is. It's like spell-casting and divination all rolled into one. Tricksy and special and sometimes with unexpected consequences.

Thank you for writing lovely fic and being a wonderful person that I can blather at. *g*

And yes, OT3, OMG. One day I shall not do it. I'm sure that somehow I could manage to write a Dom/Orli that didn't have Elijah as a highly necessary third component. Hah. (But in the meantime, yessss, doooo eeeet. *g*)

the tension is just so brilliant, and the characters just glow with humanity and have so many perfect nuances. the marionette bit in Part 1, that was just such a perfect and unique image - awesome, really, all of it.

Wow, thank you for such beautiful words! 'Glowing with humanity' is an amazing compliment, and one that I sincerely appreciate. I love that people seem to be able to see them as 'normal' in this story, because I think that what really touches us are emotions on a basic human level.

The marionette image smacked me out of the blue one day, and it just seemed perfect. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks again for your response!

What can I say? Wow. You've managed to weave a story that's perfect and subtle. If I hadn't already been in love with the characters, this story would have made me love them. I'm constantly surprised by the level of writing that I see for this fandom, because it always seems to be taken to a new level. You haven't disappointed, either.

I love the fact that everything was riddled with implications, from the characters' actions to the writing itself. It's like being teased. And the ending ...

Just wow. :)

My apologies for going off on a tangent!

No apologies necessary! I agree whole-heartedly. After being a part of several other fandoms, this one has just blown me out of the water. Not only does it have so many talented and unique writers, but everyone is for the most part incredibly respectful. I haven't seen any flame-wars since I joined, which is absolutely amazing to me.

But anyway ...your welcome, of course, for the comments. I do like to leave them where they are deserved. :)

Same here. I truly didn't know what I was missing. I met most of my close friends through another fandom's fic, and most of us have moved on to new fandoms where the grass not only seems greener but truly is.

i'm so awed by both story and feedback that i almost didn't comment ... because what can I say, really ?
this just broke my heart ...
maybe because i'm myself in that place where you know you'll have to let go of the dreams and fantasies of youth and grow up, but somewhere inside of you there is something that is holding on to the idea that it doesn't have to be this way ... (i'm turning 20 tomorrow)
*sigh*
sorry for the pseudo-psychological thing. I'll go back into hiding now

Oh, my dear...I'm very glad that you did comment. Thank you for your response, and for being so open...I know what you mean. I'm twenty now, and I feel like I don't know how to make the leap from adolescent to adult. It's hard. It's part of what makes me love Elijah so very, very much.

Thanks again for writing, and happy birthday!!

i just blew the candles, and now i wish they would all leave and let me sulk in peace over being old and feeling out of place while reading some slash.
grrrrr !
(see, i don't have to try very hard to be childish ... lol)
