It's looking like I have a rebuilt transmission without knowing. And something got screwed up in the rebuilding, thus causing the pins to freak out and lock up. What's unclear is why the hell it spontaneously started happening after three years. And he can't seem to get it to freak out at all, says it runs quiet with no problems.
This is quite possibly the most info my mechanic has ever given me. Which is nice. He's frustrated though, and really nice by telling me he knows I have a problem he just can't find it. And the only solution he has right now will only mask the problem.
I'm waiting for him to call me back after talking to my dad. Who helped me get Merlin out of the lock ups when they've happened. That's the only reason I can think of why the hell he wants to talk to my dad.
Besides the chauvinistic "girls don't know anything about cars." Which they've done to me before.
But since Merlin had a new clutch, intercooler and turbo when I got him, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised that the transmission was rebuilt. Merlin was an attempt to make an STI out of a WRX, and has been driven the hell out of as evidenced by the fact that we've had to adjust my worn emergency brake several times now.
I do love my car. I love driving him. I don't regret buying him (much) even though I still have those niggling voices at the back of my brain telling me I made a mistake. Really the only regret with Merlin is that I ditched the Celica. Has nothing to do with the car itself.
He's just an expensive little bugger.
And now what little motivation I had has flown out the window so completely while I wait for the phone call. Ugh.
Well, I started Dragon Age last night. I started as a noble human female warrior, since hack and slash is easier for me to start with than magic. Made it as far as Morrigan joining my party.
It's fun. Took me all night to find out how to save, and that the little red bar is my life, not the yellow one. This would have been solved if I read the manual. Which I will read, slowly, eventually. I used to read them before I played a game but since the damn things have gotten so complicated I just plug and play and figure out as I go along.
It's like Morrowind and Baldur's Gate had a little blood splattered baby. ^_^ In a thong.
