Finish him!
I finished an arrangement yesterday. It was an a cappella ABBA medley. I don't know how I ever got through it, but I made it happen. It actually only ended up taking me a few hours. That's how it usually goes once I really get rolling with these things. I think it turned out pretty great, too, and I managed to come up with completely original material as well. I'm not one of those arrangers who just listens to the songs and copies the instruments exactly. I have to make it different somehow. That's how I know the arrangement is truly something coming out of my own creativity. I feel accomplished.
I get to sub a couple times for a vocal jazz group at the college of St. Scholastica in a few weeks. They're singing a couple of my arrangements already, so I think that will be fun for them to have me there. There's a chance that it could turn into a long-term position for me if some good things happen. Whoooooo knows?
Now I'm back transcribing songs...but it's nice out.....so I might go for a walk.
