Braved Costco today...

Apr 29, 2020 14:05

Waited about an hour to get in, but after that, it was smooth sailing.  Checkout only took 5 minutes.

Managed to get a nice pack of ground beef and a pack of pork sirloin.  Portioned out the ground beef and froze it (kept half a pound out for dinner, going to make ground beef bulgogi to eat with rice).  Pork sirloin was already portioned into 1.5-2lb chunks, and there were 5 in a pack.  Vacuum sealed them and froze them, can probably get at least 4 meals out of one.

There was almost no raw chicken, but plenty of frozen still left.  Almost no raw fish, but plenty of (expensive) frozen fish.  Was hoping to get a nice big salmon filet to cut up and freeze and to make some gravlax, but oh well.  Not the end of the world.

Got some eggs, milk, sangria (very important), breakfast sausage, coffee beans, bagels, cooking oil, parmesan, frozen veg, minced garlic, luncheon meats, and a few household things.

Wiped everything down before putting it away.  Also, we now have no excuses for getting takeout for awhile.  Between my husband and I, we have enough food to eat comfortably at home for I would say 3 months with maybe one small grocery trip a month for fresh produce.  I'm pickling and freezing whatever I can, though.

I do hope things start getting back to normal somewhat sooner than 3 months, but we shall see.
