Okay, so I got tagged for this ages ago by both
bleedthefreak and I think someone else, so I figured I'd finally answer it, just in case anyone was curious.
First, you should know that I'm not creative when it comes to usernames. Mainly because if I use something unfamiliar, I'll forget it. So pretty much all my accounts everywhere are under either Ainbthen or keistje, or some variation thereof. Keistje is easy, it's a combination of part of my last name and my first and middle initial. It was my userid at my first real job after college, so I used it a lot.
Now, Ainbthen is a bit different. First we'll go with the pronunciation, cause it's not like it's spelled. You say it on-fee-on. It's gaelic, and the b is silent. See, I'm in the
Society of Creative Anachronism, which is a medieval recreation group, and the group I'm involved with is pre-conquest, which means before the Battle of Hastings in 1066. So I needed an early gaelic name, because my sca persona is based in Scotland. My full sca name is actually Ainbthen Ingen Morgainn, which means Ainbthen, daughter of Morgainn. It's actually historically based, and can be traced back.
I don't specifically remember why I chose Ainbthen instead of keistje for lj, but it was probably taken at the time, or something. But that's the reasoning behind the name.
Oh, and since I spend a week every August being called Ainbthen, I'll actually answer to it.
