Snufkin's got a forked ear.

Okay, so, on Sunday, Snufkin somehow managed to tear his ear. I didn't see it happen, but I could hear him and Chi running around and playfighting like they normally do, so I can only assume that's how it happened. But, jeez. They do play pretty rough sometimes (resulting in scratches and a few small bite marks - and, no, they don't engage in full-on fighting, just rather boistrous playfighting), but this just took the biscuit. Based on the appearance of the wound, it looks as though Chi got a bit overexcited, bit through his ear, and he pulled away too fast.

Basically, it was split about half an inch down the middle, and I only noticed when I saw blood on his face, before looking at his ear and freaking out.

Fortunately, it didn't seem to be bothering him - he was acting like nothing was wrong and just being himself, so I was glad he didn't seem to be in much (if any) pain. So, I gently dabbed at his ear and face to clean some of the blood away and to clean the wound as best I felt I could, and managed to get him an appointment with the vet the following day (what with the surgery being closed on Sundays).

At first, I was worried that he'd need stitches, but I started to have doubts about that, as his ear was looking a lot better on Monday. Indeed, when we showed the damage to the vet, he said that there was no need to stitch it up, given how thin cat ears are and that sewing it up after it had been open for so long would likely do more harm than good. He also noted that the injury wasn't causing him any problems and sewing it up would be purely for cosmetic purposes. So, Snufkin got away with a cleansed ear and an injection of antibiotics, and I was advised to bathe his ear with some salted water every so often until it heals some more.

The vet also said "he's a real cat now, he's got a battle scar". XD

As of this little incident, Chi now has a new nickname: Chiana Tyson. *is fishslapped* Hey, Euan came up with it, not me. :P

In other news: me and Euan now have our certificates for the exams we took, and I've been given a date to take my Numeracy exam after I (somehow) managed to pass four practise tests in a row, getting over 30 (out of 40) each time. Not bad, considering how mathematically-challenged I am.

Also, I've applied for a job, which happens to be for the same company that Euan's applied for recently - it's for the last company he worked for, but they had to let him go for financial reasons. If I don't succeed in my application, I hope they'll accept him again - he really enjoyed it there.

Aaaand that's all for now. Laters. <3
