Spiders aren't that bad, really. I've learned not to be scared of them when I saw one eating a fly. some asshat at home would always have the window or door open and then a fuckload of flies would come in. >_<
Be more scared of the poisonous ones. Spiders like daddy longlegs or the small ones are our friends.

I know I have nothing to fear from spiders, but that's the thing about phobias - they're totally irrational. I'm just glad I don't have one of the more bizarre phobias - for example, one woman on that Panic Room show was absolutely petrified of buttons, and the stepmother of some of my sister's friends has a phobia of balloons (even talking about them makes her feel sick). It would drive me mad if I was afraid of more "everyday"-type things. I used to have an absolutely paralysing fear of dogs when I was a kid, but I got over that - they still make me nervous, but I wouldn't say they terrify me like they used to.
