I forgot to mention before

I had two terrible nightmares last night.  Both of them seemed to revolve around a lot of confusion and a sense of hopelessness.  The first one was an extremely gruesome dream that involved people suffering all sorts of ailments; mostly terrible injuries, severed limbs and extremities, and heavy loss of blood and other bodily fluids.  Some people had injured themselves out of shock from all the other things happening; all the other people being injured and killed, and dying of blood loss.  At the end of the dream, I can clearly recall the extended experience of having witness someone accidentally sever half their left foot while in a state of shock which, of course, was only made more severe by the incident.  I remember my good friend and his father, also a friend, trying to help with the situation.  They had a car and some amount of experience and/or knowledge relavent to trying to rush people off to the hospital and such.

Everything in the dream was very enhanced.  The loss of bodily fluid was so great, the drama of the whole situation was high, my emotions where off the charts, and the level and number of injuries were incomprehensible.  This boy who had severed his own foot was losing blood and other fluids so quickly and hadn't the strength to hold himself up or do anything but lay limply.  My friends were trying to prepare the car while I carried him towards it, bawling uncontrollably and profusely apologizing to the boy because I knew that we could not possibly save him at this rate...

The other dream was shorter and simpler.  It involved being on a ship, and somehow an important member of the crew -- not just a passenger or cabin person, but someone responsible for the ship and crew -- but the ship was taking on water.  I went down some steps to see the water rising on the lower decks of a rather large wooden ship.  I went back above and returned below with a bucket to start moving water off the ship to see how bad the damage was.  Suddenly, as I went further down, I ended up in a yard with dirt and grass.  Somehow the ship was also a home on a plot of land.  I continued my duties of removing excess water from what was now some sort of garden.  There was nothing in particular growing in the garden at the time, but I suppose it may have been a planting season and the excess water would have disturbed seed growth.  At some point, I realized that this was not just the ship, but that indeed, the whole world was sinking.
