Christmas gifts [part two]

Dec 17, 2005 18:31

For Travis, David, Tess, Colt, Orlando, and Cordelia. Posted a little earlier because the mun is going to be somewhat busy the next few days.

Michael Beck is not a man who likes to go shopping - in fact, he despises it so much that he tries to avoid it as much as possible. The past few years Christmas hadn't been reason enough to go out and buy tons of presents, either because he had no money or had no one to spend his money on. Afterall, he didn't have a lot of friends, and close to no family.

Things changed this year, when so many parts of his life seemed to make a major turnaround. He's found himself with more than one friend who he's close with, he's gone out to simply hang out with friends more times in a few months than what he had done in years, and he has a family.

So, that meant shopping for Christmas presents. Julie had helped him pick out some things (like getting stuff for the girls that were on his list), but for the most part...well, he had been the one doing the picking. He would stand for a while, trying to make the right choice, and in the end he'd end up getting more than one thing per person. In case they didn't like the previous gift.

Travis' gift had been somewhat easy to choose, since he was so close in age with some of his nephews. While he was in Chicago for Thanksgiving he had asked for their advice, and had ended up choosing a stereo that could be mounted on the wall, somewhere for him to keep his CDs, and a $50 gift card for Tower Records.

And, since he didn't want to be seen as rude for not getting David anything (although he didn't really know why he should get him something...), he had a gift basket delivered for him, with wine and cheese, and all sorts of things that he figured he'd like.

With the presents, he attached a little note. "Travis, I hope you're doing alright. Happy holidays. You can put up the stereo on the wall, which I thought was pretty cool; I hope you like it.

PS: The gift basket is for David, tell him happy holidays from me too. And that I hope he's doing better."

Tess' present had been a little harder to choose, and he had probably gone overboard. But, in the end, he was glad with what he had picked. In a box he had put in her gifts: a necklace, a cashmere scarf, and a photo album.

Tess,

Yeah, I went a little overboard on the presents. But, to be fair, I haven't really celebrated Christmas in years, so I have some catching up to do - I hope you like all this. The necklace is supposed to be the crescent moon, which represents new beginnings.

I know this Christmas is going to be hard for you, but if you need anything just give me a call.

(Colt's present could be meta if you'd like since in game they haven't talked all that much, but he could'nt help it... :D)

For Colt, he had gotten him a dart board, a journal, and a book.

Colt,

Just a little something. Figured you should get some practice in darts before we go out for drinks again, that way it can be a fair game. Also, I saw the book and thought it was really cool, so I hope you like it.

Merry Christmas.

Orlando had been a little harder to shop for, but in the end he had gotten him a set of pens, some Legos, and a pendant.

Orlando,

Before Logan left, he and I had gone Christmas shopping, and when he saw the Legos I'm sending you he got this huge grin on his face and mentioned how it was like the ones you had helped him pick. So I figured you having a box of Legos wouldn't hurt. The pendant, I was told it's supposed to have some...protective qualities. It's supposed to be a bunch of charms together; I hope you like it.

Thanks for everything, man; happy holidays.

At first he had been a little unsure just what he should get Cordelia, considering that he hadn't really had the chance to talk to her a lot. But, figuring that presents wouldn't hurt, he had gotten her a few things; a cashmere scarf, a picture frame, and a porcelain box from Tiffanys.

Cordelia,

I figured the blue box wouldn't hurt. Thanks again for your hospitality when I was in New York, and I hope the move to Boston goes well.

Merry Christmas.

And, lastly, he finished wrapping the last present. He had thought that he had finished shopping after getting each Orlando and Cordelia something, but...well, they'd get a present as a couple, too. In a seperate box he put in a gift basket from Yankee Candle, and an address book. With it, he added a little note:

Count it as a housewarming gift.

Merry Christmas!

- Michael

Once all the presents have been wrapped, cards have been signed and notes have been attached, they were sent on their way so they could be at the proper destination just in time.

friends, christmas, presents
