This little piece is a musing beginning to a tale that has been brewing for a while now, I'm not sure what to call it, or when I'll get around to adding to it but I guess I'm allowed to be vague sometimes, right?

Summary: AU. Naraku is lost and someone throws him a life line.
It’s your fault... if you hadn’t been born he wouldn’t have left me...
Naraku took a drag of his cigarette and stared up at the blank blue sky, how fitting it was, vast and empty like his life. School was a bore, so he vetoed lessons and stayed on the roof instead.
His classmates speculated that he was a delinquent, a reprobate with no redeeming qualities. Exhaling in a plume of smoke that spiralled in a serpentine manner, Naraku wondered if they were right.
Your demon eyes... it would have been better if you’d never been born...
Lifting a hand, he hid his blood red eyes, the symbol of his father’s heritage, from the harsh glare of the sunlight. A spotlight that focused on him and demanded he confess the sins of his life.
Had he sinned? His birth had been a sin.
Reclining lazily, Naraku closed his eyes resignedly. Would this monotony never end?
“Naraku-kun, if you smoke like that you’ll die,” the sweet voice of the class rep interrupted his thoughts and he squinted at her as she stole the cigarette from between his lips and stubbed it out.
“Cigarettes are fatal,” Kagome scolded, “and against school rules.”
Naraku rolled his ruby eyes. Why did she care?
“You should come back to class.”
What’s the point?
“Please,” she beseeched him, blue eyes boring into him.
“Why?” Why do you care?
“Your eyes,” she whispered, “they’re lonely. I don’t like it.”
Naraku’s eyes widened.
I’ve been waiting for this...
