Sungmin sighed contentedly as he clicked the post button on his iPhone, successfully publishing his
journal update after five whole minutes of contemplation on whether he should have deleted the last sentence. Thinking that Kyuhyun wouldn't browse his naver blog anyway, he decided to go for it and left it as it is, oblivious to the fact that Kyuhyun actually made it a habit to check said blog daily.
With that taken care of, Sungmin leaned back on the leather covers of the car seat and made himself comfortable, drifting to a dreamless sleep as the van moved to a start, wanting nothing more than to go home to the person who held his heart.
~
Kyuhyun smiled as he saw Sungmin's post, mentally congratulating himself for having bought a bottle of wine online last week. The courier had sent him a message that it had already been delivered at the dorms, and to say that Kyuhyun was excited would be an understatement. He was ecstatic, actually - knowing that Sungmin loved their wine time together. Kyuhyun liked it when Sungmin was happy; therefore, he loved wine time too.
The musical was successful but Kyuhyun's back was aching. Still, he knew that once he sees his lover, all pain will be gone in a snap. How Sungmin does it, Kyuhyun will never know.
Kyuhyun stretched his arms towards his sides as he entered the dorm, huffing tiredly as he saw the clock which displayed 12:00 o'clock. Sukira might have just ended and that meant that Kyuhyun would have to wait for another hour or so before he got to see Sungmin. Thinking that he might as well put the time to good use, Kyuhyun thought of a brilliant idea to make the night more special.
~
Candles everywhere.
That's what greeted Sungmin's eyesight as he tiredly stepped into the dormitory, said tiredness dissipating quickly as he was welcomed with the breathtaking sight. He carefully took his shoes off and changed into his
pink bunny slippers, making his way towards the center of the living room where the coffee table had been set for two. A wine bucket was in the middle of the glass table, surrounded by rose petals which formed a heart shape. Candles lined the edge of the table, flickering dangerously as Sungmin's breath disturbed their steady glow when he edged in closer.
Sungmin thought he had never seen a sight more beautiful than this. Yet, as he shifted his gaze to the couch where Kyuhyun was softly snoozing, he couldn't help but take his words back. Kyuhyun's mouth was slightly open, his silent snoring in sync with the steady rise and fall of his chest. His face still had the faintest traces of his stage make-up, but his features were arranged in a mask of serenity, quite unlike the usual derpy expressions the maknae had. His arms were crossed across his chest, his bangs slightly covering one side of his face. Now that's an exquisite sight.
Sungmin would have wanted for time to freeze at that very moment, knowing that he could very well live with just staring at Kyuhyun's visage for an eternity. He just loved the man too much for his own good. Sungmin put his bag down on the floor and kneeled beside Kyuhyun's sleeping figure on the couch. He nudged the younger's nose with his own, effectively rousing the younger from his slumber.
"Hey there, sleeping beauty," Sungmin smiled, ruffling Kyuhyun's messy locks with a hand.
"If there's someone who's beautiful here, it certainly wouldn't be me. And I don't see anyone else but you. Go figure," Kyuhyun's witty reply came, his snark not at all affected, despite the fact that he just woke up.
"No need to be enigmatic with me, Mister Cho. You could just tell me I'm beautiful directly if it bothers you that much," Sungmin said playfully, pecking Kyuhyun's nose as he did so. He had a thing for Kyuhyun's nose, thank you very much.
"Okay fine. But only since I love you so much, beautiful," Kyuhyun conceded, grinning sheepishly at Sungmin who was staring at him disbelievingly.
"Oh god, cheesy doesn't look good on you, Kyu. Stick to snarky, it suits you better," Sungmin responded, threading his fingers on Kyuhyun's hair, the latter leaning into the touch.
"I don't know if I should be offended or not with that," Kyuhyun muttered, closing his eyes as he places a chaste kiss on Sungmin's wrist, the nearest body part he can reach with his lips.
"Both," Sungmin giggled, abruptly standing up and making his way to the kitchen, ignoring Kyuhyun's yells of 'Where are you going?'
Sungmin returned a couple of minutes after, a wine bottle in hand and a decanter on the other, a giddy smile painted on his face.
"I thought we should drink wine tonight, Kyu. Since it's... you know, um, never mind," Sungmin bit his lip, worried that he had brought up a sensitive issue.
"Five years since the accident?" Kyuhyun asked calmly, sitting up on the couch.
"I'm sorry! I know it's nothing to be happy about, but I am really thankful for that day. It made me realize what my feelings for you truly were," Sungmin whispered, voice barely audible but Kyuhyun heard it perfectly.
The sound of shifting and a couple of footsteps later, Kyuhyun was in front of Sungmin, enveloping the elder in his arms.
"I know, Min. I know. I'm thankful for that day too. It gave me some sort of epiphany - that I couldn't let myself die without telling you that I love you. If I were to go back in time, I wouldn't change anything. I'd gladly go through it all, all over again, if it means I get to be with you for the rest of my life," Kyuhyun whispered into Sungmin's hair, inhaling the sweet scent that was distinctly Sungmin.
"Don't say that! You can have me all you want, but don't get hurt again. I'll surely die if I have to go through all that, ever again," Sungmin whispered pleadingly, looking up at Kyuhyun with glazed eyes.
"You sure I can have you all I want?" Kyuhyun joked, trying to lighten up the mood.
Sungmin's eyes widened when he realized the connotation within Kyuhyun's words, shoving the maknae away from him. "You perv!"
"Yes, I am. But o-o-only for you, o-o-only for you," Kyuhyun sang the last bit with matching choreography, effectively ridding Sungmin of whatever annoyance he had prior.
Sungmin was not able to do anything but to laugh at Kyuhyun's horrible dancing skills. Chest pops and Kyuhyun didn't belong to the same sentence. #KTHNXBYE
"Oh, Kyu! Look what a fan sent in the mail this morning," Sungmin said excitedly, shoving the bottle to Kyuhyun's hand while he placed the decanter on the table, careful not to ruin the heart shaped with the rose petals.
Receiving no answer whatsoever, Sungmin stared back up at Kyuhyun, only to frown when the maknae seemed to be deep in thought.
"Kyu, what's wrong?" Sungmin asked worriedly, cupping Kyuhyun's left cheek with his right hand.
"It's nothing, Min. Let's drink," Kyuhyun said with a forced smile, giving Sungmin the bottle back for him to start decanting.
Still, Sungmin could sense that Kyuhyun was upset over something. Just as he was about to pour the wine onto the decanter, he saw Kyuhyun sneakily take out a wine bottle from within the wine bucket on the table, silently making his way to the kitchen when Sungmin stopped him.
"Hey, Kyu. What's that?" Sungmin asked, putting the wine and the decanter back down on the table.
"Nothing. Do carry on," Kyuhyun tried to answer as cheerily as he can, his back still facing the elder.
Smelling something fishy, Sungmin went after the younger and blocked the way to the kitchen, giving the maknae no chance for escape. Sungmin pried the bottle from Kyuhyun's hold, the latter turning beet red as Sungmin examined the label.
"I'm sorry I only got this. I - I ordered it last week for tonight. I didn't know there'd be..." Kyuhyun's eyes trailed off to the center table then back to Sungmin. "Never mind. Let's just drink that one, okay?"
"No. We're drinking this one first," Sungmin grinned, taking Kyuhyun's hand in his free one and leading him back to the table. He sat on the carpeted floor, tugging Kyuhyun down with him.
"Aisssh hyung! Why are you being like this?" Kyuhyun whined. He only called Sungmin 'hyung' whenever the elder did something that embarrassed him.
"Like what?" Sungmin blinked his eyes innocently, already opening the wine bottle with the corkscrew.
"You're hurting my man pride! Do you really have to rub it on my face that I bought
cheap wine?" Kyuhyun sulked, lips unconsciously forming a pout.
"You're fucking a man, Kyuhyun. If your man pride can take that, then this shouldn't be a problem," Sungmin said without batting an eyelash, staring at Kyuhyun pointedly.
The maknae merely gaped, not having recovered yet from Sungmin's blunt insult to his precious man pride. And the worst thing about it was, it actually made sense.
Kyuhyun just stared as Sungmin continued, not able to defend himself. "And besides, you didn't buy cheap wine. We both know Castillo de Molina's wines can't just be bought
anywhere. I wonder how much you coughed up for the shipping and tax," Sungmin pondered aloud, a thoughtful expression on his face.
"Well... I actually ordered it
online," Kyuhyun muttered sheepishly, shrinking in shame as he felt the last of his man pride die a painful death.
"Oh." Sungmin didn't seem to expect his answer. Still, he recovered quickly enough and continued his pep talk. "I'll give you an A for resourcefulness then. Don't worry about it, Kyu. The wine the fan gave is just too
expensive. I mean, it's good, but I still think the wine you bought me is better," Sungmin said earnestly, already filling his goblet with the blood red fluid. He paused to take a
snapshot of it on his phone and proceeded to fill Kyuhyun's glass.
"You're only saying that to make me feel better," Kyuhyun huffed, still feeling guilty that he didn't buy something more expensive. He knew he should've bought something else - something that may not be as
expensive as Chateau Margaux Pavillion Rouge, but something that's not
1/18 of its price too. Talk about face-palming so hard.
"I'm not, Kyu. Really." The sincerity in Sungmin's words was more than enough to clear Kyuhyun's doubts, for it outweighed whatever words that Sungmin would have said to prove that he was telling the truth. There was no need for words - Sungmin's eyes showed how he felt clearly enough - and perhaps, more.
"Toast?" Sungmin said playfully, raising his goblet to Kyuhyun's direction, the latter taking a moment or two to raise his glass up as well and tinkling it with Sungmin's.
The subject was dropped then and there and they started to talk about their days, Kyuhyun sharing a funny blooper he had in a scene with Sunny, while Sungmin told Kyuhyun about Ryeowook's newest giraffe plushie. They had moved on to their second bottle, Sungmin not forgetting to snap a
shot of the label to show the kind fan his gratitude.
They were having so much fun that they didn't notice the time. Sungmin gasped when he chanced a glance at the clock, showing that it was already quarter to four in the morning.
Kyuhyun started to clear the table of the candles, piling them neatly on one side. He was putting out the last candle when Sungmin abruptly pulled him up to his feet. Kyuhyun was only able to form a half smile before he heard the shutter click. He could only imagine how unprepared his face might have looked in the
photo.
"Why do you take so much pictures of us when you don't even share it?" Kyuhyun scowled, trying to peek into Sungmin's phone as the elder covered the screen with his hand. "Let me see it, Min!"
"No you don't!" Sungmin laughed as he placed the phone back in his pocket, keeping it out of Kyuhyun's reach. "I save these pictures for my own memory, Kyu, not for fan service. And besides, I'm sure I've shared a selca of the both of us in the past."
"Yeah you have. Two selcas, actually. Just two over the course of six years!" Kyuhyun grumpily said, glaring at Sungmin in an indignant manner.
"How do you even know how many I posted!?" Sungmin questioned, staring at Kyuhyun incredulously.
"Just because I don't have a naver blog, nor do I follow you in Twitter, doesn't mean I don't read your updates. I want to know what's going on in my boyfriend's mind, thank you very much," Kyuhyun huffed, still as sulky as ever.
"I - I don't know what to say," was all Sungmin could reply, quite shocked about the knowledge that Kyuhyun actually kept track of his social networking life.
"Well, just start with showing me that picture and we'll work something out from there," Kyuhyun grinned hopefully, hands already reaching for Sungmin's phone.
"I guess you'll just have to wait for it to be uploaded on my blog then, you troll!" Sungmin said before he hastily ran to their room, shutting the door behind him with a snap.
"Ya! Lee Sungmin!!!"
"It’s not about the wine you drink…but who you drink it with."
- Lee Sungmin,
UFO reply ~END~
