It's funny because everyone says that being a Christian is such a popular vote...when really, the media and our generation looks down on it. I used to looked down on it too. And I don't really blame them...I mean..majority of people who say they are Christian don't really walk their path with the Lord. They simply like the idea of Him. They treat him as their favorite ex-boyfriend.
My grandma doesn't doubt me being a Christian. She just picks these..fights or debates with me. I am still like..a baby in this religion, or more like a journey. I don't even call myself a religious person. I don't have trivial days where I make rituals. The only difference between me and other people who don't believe in living with Christ is that I put everything I do before the Cross. My grandma doesn't understand that. She picks out small little details that I am still unsure of..and which don't even effect me or the people I love, and shoves it in my face. Of course I haven't the knowledge yet. You're 60 years old and have had your entire life to learn the gospel. Yet, here you are and I am still more understanding of it than you are. [pointed at my grandma]
So doing the whole relating to my past self to my new self just..isn't really permissible anymore. She never brings that up.
I try not to argue for her to believe what I believe. I just want her to understand that I am not a weaker person for my belief. If anything, I feel stronger. I have something worth fighting for, and worth standing up for. Before this..I had nothing. [that isn't why I believe though]
More importantly, I hate when people say our country is considered "Christian". I think China has more people who walk alongside the Lord than us. But I am just saying that out of revolt. Our generation, which is more important than "our country" since most of that geeneration will die soon anyway, blames Christianity for a lot of things.
I would just like to pull myself away from "christianity" or "christians" if that's how you will view me...I don't hate other people or really judge them to that extreme [i still judge, i know thats bad..but i judged before and i haven't really stopped but i am not going to tell people God hates them..jeez] If anything, what I try to put across to my Grandma, I just follow Jesus Christ and his word. If that sounds better, or whatever, than that's what I'd rather be known ass
Media and our generation look down on Christians if you watch the news skewed to the left. If you watch Fox everyone else is God-hating tree-hugging hippie pussies who should be water boarded and if you do things like follow the separation of church and state you are un American and should die.
Im not saying hate doesnt exist towards Christians, but at the same time EVERYONE at some point in their life will be hated for something very very petty and stupid. Its just fact. And it is also fact that a majority of Americans are Christians and thus when they vote and do things they vote with God's will ignoring the separation of Church and State.... Im all for believing what you want to believe. Morality in America is also fine and dandy, but you cant force God on the other 46% or so.... which is why you sometimes get hate speech.
Remember, this all is a logical and reasonable thought out statement, but at 4 amish with a bottle of rum in my system I may be lying to myself. Im just lucky Im wearing pants and not trying dangerous acrobatics.
That is my point exactly. How did Obama win? Because he isn't an irrational douche-bag. Hell, I would have voted McCain pre-2000 but something in him changed. And by that I mean he turned into George Bush v.2 which is not something that works. Not to mention Sarah Palin might actually be retarded.
By Obama winning the only non christian things he has agreed with is not overturning abortion (which even if McCain won wouldnt happen) and he wants to get rid of dont ask dont tell and is open to gay marriage. When asked about gay marriage he doesnt agree with it, but he knows that making it against the law is unconstitutional.
This is another reason why you will hear more hate speech is lumping together Christianity and politics. Like as soon as you believe in God you have to Vote Republican on every issue.
If you will note nearly every state with an anti-gay marriage bill passed even though it pretty much spits on the constitutional ideas of equality and separation of church and state.
I haven't met one real Christian person who wanted to vote for Obama.... And the whole anti-gay marriage thing isn't only disagreed among Christians. There are people out there who just HATE everything..like the KKK people. So that isn't really a Christian thing either [and no, KKK isn't Christian btw..] Some people I talked to just don't agree with gay people getting married..why? I dunno. I just think that gay marriage shouldn't bring God into it. That is extremely hypocritical.
Oh and the bill was very confusing..my friend Will who is gay didn't even understand the amendment when voting for it and accidently voted against it. And not every homosexual really cares about the whole "marriage" thing. Will told me he understands about the whole marriage deal, and said he wouldn't want that kind of marriage simply because it has to do with God. He'd rather get a civil courtship deal where he just has the same benefits.
It is not hypocritical, the fight against gay marriage is largely fought by the christian community. Hell, Id say well over 89% of the people against it are against it because it is against "gods will" and say its a choice rather than people being born that way. That is just fact. Hell I know non-christian people who are against teaching evolution in schools but it doesn't mean the fight isnt widely considered a christian fight.
Saying you haven't met one "real christian person" who voted for Obama is the only statement that is wrong here. Honestly you think all real christian voted for McCain who doesn't even know where the term Mavrick came from and used it like it was the only word he knew to appear hip and different? Thats like if I said all educated people voted for Obama. While the numbers are mostly on my side (check the most recent republican poles and youll see a drop off in membership by everyone especially the college educated) it is ignorant of me to generalize like that.
Not to mention everyone who is all huffy and pissed about Obama being president and I have yet to hear a decent argument as to how he is "ruining the country".
The only argument I know widely about against Obama is the universal medical care. It's only good for a small portion of the US, and screws the people who purposely make enough money to get the better medical care...in that way, he is looking like a communist/socialist.
Oh and I don't really care about the Gay Marriage ban, by the way. I am not Gay, and therefore I don't look into it. It doesn't affect me in any way...I wasn't born gay or hate guys enough to be it or want to be cool. I already went through that phase in my life where I thought I was gay...and I thank God that I am not. Being gay sucks, and everyone is against you. So I am glad I wasn't born that way. I don't mean to sound like a total ass hole, but being a homosexual puts you at a high risk. You may be supported by a lot of people and make friends in our generation, and get hooked up easier...but I am honestly glad I am not homosexual.
And in that light..I don't argue about Gay Marriage because I simply don't care. I know that I HAVE to care about one side...but I just don't. It's not my battle, and I feel like there are more IMPORTANT things to argue about then who people have sex with.
Well yes but let me put it this way, do you know the details of the plan that has been put in front of him that he favors? My grandparents complain about that constantly and say he is a socialist but the plan he is in favor of and would attempt to put forth doesn't dissolve our medical system as is and have socialized medicine. The plan his people put forth is to create a government plan that is affordable to people who dont make enough money (for instance me) so we can, you know, get medical care we need without going bankrupt. The point of this government plan is to cause better pricing in the market so that the other companies will stop over charging people for everything.
It not only lets people who cant afford health care get it (not for free mind you, its not free healthcare, that was one idea and he didnt approve of it) and it would cause more competition in the market so if you can spend more with the other companies you would get more... He isnt saying that everyones taxes should go up so that everyone gets free health care and can get free plastic surgery and all that.
Hell Ron Paul wanted to get rid of federal taxes but he could never get that by congress just like Obama nor anyone else could get socialized health care by. People think the president has way more power than he really does. He just wants health care reform which we definitely do need.
A common thought. Hell I only just heard about the program they favor from one of the people who proposed it and it sounded interesting. She wrote a book about it which I may read.
Politics are retarded, which makes me want to run for school board... though Id probably loose because I like to hear both sides of arguments and think about it slightly.
If you want to look something up since I know you and your love of art I suggest a long lost Tv show gem called Lidsville. I had seen it before and it freaked me out and with all the talking about Land of the Lost being made into the movie and all I re heard about it with a slew of other shows those producers did... really weird trippy stuff. Lidsville is about a kid who goes to a magic show and falls into a magic hat and goes to a place where hats live and he hangs out with hats... If I did drugs of any kind I would only watch that show for the rest of my life. BUT I don't. Still it is interesting to watch and you may enjoy it even if for just a small laugh.
