I accidentally on purpose stayed downtown much too late tonight (it gets dark at six-thirty now). It was pretty dark by the time I started to make my way back to the Skytrain, and the night crowd was just starting to appear on the streets. Consequently, by the time I actually got back to the station I was pretty loopy from the second-hand smoke of what I assume were illegal substances. XD; Ah, downtown.
I don't regret it, though, because the overcast sky, blueish mountains, and grey of the buildings created an amazing effect after the sun set and turned the whole city blue. :D Seriously, the whole city was a beautiful dark blue color! It was really amazing to see, especially against the midnight color of the sky and the baby blue of the mountains. Vancouver is an unbelievably gorgeous city.
Three other things:
1. My favorite urban newspaper is now at Lougheed (local bus/Skytrain station)! I used to have to go all the way downtown every week to get it, and now it's finally in my neighborhood!
2. I read in the paper today that Vancouver and Seattle might team up to co-host either the World Cup or the World's Fair!! Talk about awesome news! The 2010 Olympics ALONE are costing Vancouver taxpayers $2.5 billion right now (the Tories promised it would cost us only $600 million -.-; Thanks a lot, crappy provincial government). It'll be nice to share the costs--and strengthen US-Canada relations! I like Seattle, and the idea of teaming up internationally with WA to host a high profile event. Too bad I'll be living in Cali by then, but I won't be here for the 2010 Olympics either! D:
2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RHIA AND LIZ! You guys are legal working age before me, darnit. XD; Way to host an awesome party, Liz. Rhia--next weekend we'll chill in the city and I'll cover everything this time. Lunch at Horseshoe Bay or Lion's Bay all right? :3
