I came across a couple of really strange advertisements today walking halfway across Vancouver (I walked from Macdonald to Kingsway--why? ...no clue) that were just begging to be blogged.

The first was on one of the changing billboards (it alternated with an advertisement for House!) by Lougheed Highway. The company's name and logo were in a tiny corner, and their advertisement consisted of one sentence:

'Dear Telus, I just can't see a future with you.'

(Playing on Telus's slogan "The Future is Friendly", of course.)

What kind of an advertisement is that, seriously? It was for a competing company that I had never even heard of, Shift Wireless or something like that. The ad was just... bad. What does it accomplish? All it does is put down a competitor. No mention of or information about their own product and no website or store at which to find their product. It was just... bad.

The second advertisement was more funny than bad, but still, it made me stop for a second and think, "...What?"

(For a real estate company)
"Your house sold in 60 days, or we will sell it for free!."

I'm sure they mean that you don't have to pay them for their services, but still, the ambiguity is hilarious.
