Sigh. Back to the job hunt. Things with GWA went south - nothing to do with me, entirely to do with the construction industry in this economy. The day I left, 4 people were laid off. Including the Interior Designer they had brought over from England on a work visa just 3 months ago, whose boyfriend came over to join her on a year-long visa just a few weeks ago. It makes me sick that she got fired, because she had basically just uprooted her life thinking she had a permanent position. I left work that day with a sick feeling in my stomach, not at all liking the real world.

But now at least I have some time to relax. I'm trying not to let myself get too out-of-whack, sleep schedule-wise. I like that right now I "wake up" on my own at 9:00 am and can then laze about for a little while before I get up. And I like how I'm sleeping better, although I attribute that a lot to this lavender-scented Bucky eye-mask I got, which from like the first day I put on made me sleep far deeper and far more relaxed. Plus it can be heated AND cooled :)

As far as the job situation goes, I'm looking around outside the temp agency for a bit. I applied for a summer position at Langara helping to put together an English Immersion program they run. If nothing else, it would look great on the resume. Plus it's far more kinetic than reception work! Any job where I have a project! GIVE ME A PROJECT!!!

Also, I've been knitting up a storm. It's funny, I've always felt like I was non-commital with my hobbies, like I was never going to get really good at them because I'll dive into one hobby seriously for like 2 weeks, and then I'll leave it for months. But the other day, Nick was telling me a story about his friend's dad who is a car nut. One of his kids asked him why he never really finished the cars he was working on. He told them that finishing them wasn't really the point. The point was to poke around at them, get new tools to play with, and have your friends over to stand around and drink beer and poke at the car. What's the fun of finishing? I thought that was an interesting way to look at hobbies. And while I do like the satisfaction of finishing a project every once in a while, I've started using that story as a way of chilling out that stupid voice in my head that tells me I'm no good.

Anyway, off to knit some more and cuddle with my dog!
