Let's Make A Mess was so good the first night, that I decided to go again the next night in Grand Rapids. This time, Dakota came along for the ride. My concert buddy, Sammie Jo, saved us a spot in line. It was such a long drive. We got to the Mixtape around 5pm, just as This Providence were starting their acoustic set. Andrew Goldstein was walking around, chatting the line up. I was too tired to go up to him. I heard him later on playing "Wonderwall" again with This Providence. Yeah, that shit started in Pontiac, baby!
I only took a few pictures, but they were good.
This show was much more energetic than the one in Pontiac. We were packed tightly together. Sardine-like. But that's what makes it a good show.
They in a basement. It was so hot. I started sweating the minute we reached the stairs. Luckily the bands came prepared with supersoakers.
My only pet peev about the night was that the girls to the left of me were buzzkills. They didn't dance. They were about 13. And they insulted the other bands. They were there for Hey Monday and no one else. I am too fucking nice to people. When Cassadee came on stage for "Waste Myself" again, I tapped the chick on the shoulder 'cause she wasn't looking. Smack me. Now.
The Bigger Lights, The Friday Night Boys, This Providence, and Hey Monday ALL remembered me from the night before. When they saw me up against the stage for the second night in a row, I guess they decided to pay more attention to me. XD
Cassadee made eye contact with me so much. We definitely flirted (lmao). Oh, I'd give my left pinky for a night with that girl. That was horrible.
Our line neighbors were at this show too. Cassadee brough Kenzi up on stage to sing 6 Months. It was so cute. She almost cried.
Jersey soaked her with his water bottle.
In between two of the songs, I shouted "Elliot!" and he looked over and said, "Hey! How are you?" Made my night. Still my new hero.
Highlights of the night:
During This Providence's set, Dan shared a little fact from his iPhone random facts ap: "All polar bears are left-handed."
Super. Soaker.
Elliot saying hi to me.
Holding Cassadee's hand.
Cassadee's face up against mine, pretty much sharing the mic.
Sweating profusely.
Topher Talley giving me a high five and telling me that I'm awesome.
Andy Horst signing my wallet and talking to me again.
Singing in the car on the way home with Dee.
Meeting the band, SinceClaire. Feels Like Red is going to tour with them one day. Oops, that's another post alltogether...
