I had lunch with one friend today (which was loads of fun), and dinner with a couple of other friends I don't see often, so it was a Good Lissa Daytm. And then the friends I had dinner with are coming down tomorrow to watch Serenity, which they haven't seen yet. (Seriously: there are people in this world who have not yet seen that movie. I know! I'm shocked, too!)
I've received a couple "no vacancies at my school, but I'll keep your name on file" letters from principals in the DoDDS system--one of them at a school I'd LOVE to teach at--which is a bit disappointing, but there are still others I sent emails to. I am, however, forcing myself to come to the conclusion that I really, REALLY am going to be here for school year 2009-2010. Damn it. :( Not that it's a wholly bad thing; just that I've been working towards this for so long. *sigh* Oh well. Focus on the good things: I can save up some more money; I can spend time weeding out things I don't need anymore from my apartment; I can do some research into schools in Britain, in case I decide to work for the British system next year; I have friends I'd lost contact with, whom I've recently found again, and this will give me some time to hang out with them.
Oh, and some good news: My tv has shipped from the warehouse to the store! This means I'll probably get it before they'd originally figured I would. YAY! I am pleased! I thought I'd have to wait until the 11th or so. New TV FTW!
And even more good news: It's cool enough that I'm actually wearing jeans in my living room. Not my bedroom with the a/c: MY LIVING ROOM. I may just turn off the fan here in a bit. Sixty-five degrees F is MUCH nicer than anything above 80.
I'll post more answers to my Fannish Top Five post in a while; for now I'm recovering from my Big Day Out. *grin*
