It's a horrible experience, and most people have had this happen at least once. You'll be asleep, dreaming that you're awake, and unable to move, shout, or do the thing that you want most to do, which is WAKE UP!!! Until it was termed sleep paralysis, people were so freaked out, they believed that a demon was sitting on them. It sucks! (ha ha succubus - get it?!)
What happens in the film
"Awake" is worse. Much worse. It's called "anesthetic awareness" and happens more often in real life and to real people, than you'd like to imagine. This is more of a psych thriller than straight up horror film, but truly the stuff of nightmares. Being on an operating table, and able to hear and feel everything, but unable to move or communicate? Yeesh!
Anyway, I'm pretty certain this was suggested by Dave Moss, as it mysteriously appeared on my hard drive, (and stars Hayden Christensen - which also quite scary, because the bloke can't usually act for shit) Add the fact that at one point James got up to announce that he was going to "watch this bit from the kitchen," and this makes for quite the horrifying film. Not recommended at all to those of you who fear this, and have to have surgery at some point. Otherwise hell yeah :)
7.5 / 10
Oh yeah, and those little bold numbers that are whatever out of ten? Those are for how scared I was by the film, and how much I enjoyed it because of that. Not how good I think the film actually is.
