boots?

I know some of you like combat boots.
I want to buy some. Preferably boots that are actually *good*, but my primary use case is going to be "Halloween / maybe PAX costume" so I guess if they aren't totally super-strong that's okay.
Here is what I am thinking. Black. Tall. No heels or frilly sexy nonsense, just nice stompy boot.
Anyone have any recommendations? Boot makers? Or even shoe-purchasing-entities likely to carry a good boot?
