I got my most favorite pair of shoes ever from this place, and I like their men's shoes because they are stylish and interesting yet not girly. Maybe a little expensive but they have a lot of coolish boot options.

Oh my goodness. Some of those are just beautiful, I need to give it more time, but just off hand:

adorable and totally steampunk-able!

ditto!

when could I ever pull off blue boots, but just look at them!

and these are gorgeous

I am turning into a shoe person from one website.

Haha, yeah, even just going on there to reassure myself they had cool boots I saw a bunch of things I like. XD And I am not much of a shoe person, either.

I used to wear Hi-Tec 8" tacticals pretty much everywhere (they're branded as Magnum boots now). They're not the best boot in the world, but they're relatively cheap and survive OK (they lasted at least one 50+ mile hiking trip through a river and a motorcycle wreck or three).

If you want authentic, pretty much anything available at Galls (http://www.galls.com) is guaranteed to be in use by an operator or officer somewhere in the world. For cheap and usable, may I suggest the Galls Women's 8" Zipper Duty Boot. There's plenty of high speed gear to be found there as well, depending on your budget.

If you'd like to accessorize with something costume-appropriate yet practical for years to come, I suggest checking out the vests at BulletProofMe. A Level II police surplus vest is surprisingly wearable, and you never know when it might come in handy.

Consult your local thrift store! Especially if they're just for Halloween, you should be able to find some appropriately stompy boots, with the added bonus that they will look nicely broken in.
