I know there are very few (if any) people on my friends list who can read French, but
I love France and especially Paris Basically, this article is about how a new bridge in Paris has been opened, named for
Simone de Beauvoir. Who was wonderful. Seriously. I posted when
Betty Friedan died because she was such an important figure. Well, Simone de Beauvoir was much, much cooler than Betty Friedan, even. Like, she wrote the book that inspired The Feminine Mystique, and thus was before Friedan, but didn't have all of the limitations and shortsightedness that Friedan had. For instance, she wasn't anti-lesbian. I think it's amazing that the French government is honoring her in this way. Plus, she was a great writer, and it's a bridge that connects a park to the national library, which is wonderfully appropriate. And, I'm going to be in Paris again in less than a week! Yay!
Last night,
crazykawaii and I went to a tiny, extremely hippy, vegetarian restaurant. It was kind of an adventure. ck wasn't thrilled with the experience, but other than the fact that the food was extremely salty, I enjoyed it. It's wonderful to eat adventurous vegetarian food that I wouldn't know how to cook for myself. Tonight's adventure is going to the club
we tried to go to when it was closed. It should be open tonight, however. Tomorrow, we're going to a museum, and Sunday, as usual, we're going to el Rastro. It'll be a well-rounded weekend!
An amusing article:
Shannen Doherty regrets half of the bad things she did in the past. Half? That's just strange.
