So I really really thought this was going to end in a draw since Milan were playing better for most of the second half. The first 20 minutes was shaky for Roma, and the Giallorossi only got into the flow of the match after the first 25 minutes when Mancini tried some sort of scissor kick that went just wide. Both teams were scoreless at the half, after which Clarence Seedorf began his assault on Roma's backline. Kaka finally broke the deadlock [thanks to Massi's crossing skills :P], although I remained calm since Roma play better chasing goals than protecting leads [fact]. A goal down and with the clock ticking, Spal put on Mirko and Ludo for a more attacking line-up and true enough, both substitutes scored within three minutes of each other to finally bag the win in favour of the hosts.
The tifosi were all fired up. Perhaps in the literal sense of the word as well?
Brazil represent!
Did anyone see when Kaka pulled Cicinho back by the hair? I lol.
Homies
Yeah he starts now. Only because Cassetti's shoulder is still broken.
Cici's crosses weren't exactly as brilliant as I'd like. He was better defensively, which was a surprise.
Like I said, Milan were the better team in 2H. They even went close to making it 2-0 if it weren't for Cicinho playing GK.
Before the half, there was some arguments about the corner kick. Apparently, the Romans insist they've found a loop hole in the rulebook-- or something-- and ref wouldn't have it.
Manci: What the hell, OK? Spal said it's legit! We tried it in practice!
Fra: You don't know the rules, we do!
Pizarro: *whistles nonchalantly*
The arguments went on forever. I was thisclose to giving them their binkies.
Rino enjoyed the show. Look at him sticking around to listen in.
Fra: OK, OK, you're right.
Rino: Life is now.
Fra: That's what I said. Rife es wow.
bb get some sleep.
He's not kicking Clarence, I promise.
He was MOTM according to about 5 different publications. I do not argue with this.
Bite the dust.
See ya.
If the whole winger business doesn't work out for Taddei, I swear he can be a DMF. That whole running challenge on Ricky? Pure class.
DDR didn't get giallo'd. PHEW.
The ducklet though? Totally got giallo'd for this undulating simulation.
They can have big ears together.
Like I said, Clarence was being a threat all of the second half.
Thank you, Carletto, for subbing him out for Emerson. It helped.
Spal also made a few changes. I didn't see this coming-- it's usually Aqui for Piza. But Ludo scored, so I dare not question The Bald One.
They can be short and diminutive together. 5'4" is the new 6'1" bitches.
Mini Frenchie didn't even need to hustle much...
...everyone swarmed towards Fra, leaving Ludo open and all alone to bury the goal into the net.
Ludo does yoga in his spare time, I can tell.
Aquilani: Is it in, is it in?
Pirlo: Oh, shit.
Yeah, my eyes went straight to how hot and dirty Paolo looks in the corner.
ROARR!
RAH! I WANT TO GLOMP SOMEONE! BUT NOT YEWWWW!
NOT YOU EITHER! *KEEPS RUNNING*
HIGH FIVES!
Yeah all that running to kiss Simone.
French kiss
I mean like, it was a kiss from a Frenchman. Not as in... yeah.
He kept running, in hopes of finding Philippe there...
[Philippe is at home, nursing a broken hip.]
He didn't want any love. He only glomps on his Philou.
But Gianluca Curci will do. He's Philippe's height.
Gobz, no.
Koala!Ludo
Gobz, I said no.
Ducklet was really being ballsy with his shots, not taking any hesitations at all.
He kept his homeboy Juanito really busy marking him.
Brazil really repped on that pitch. Throw in Maicon and JC, and it would've been a reunion.
Juan also showed some love for Georgians.
Mancini being acrobatic with that scissor kick
Sneezy Mancini and a dancing Rino
Always with the tongue
Massilicious ripping the wet look.
That was a hard fall. Rino stayed down for a bit after that.
Panucci was CB filling in for Mexes.
Marking Ricky can be really painful. Just look at Panucci's face.
Still good in the air, that Panucci
NOT THE FACE!
Why do they do that with their tongue? It's creepy.
Deathglaring the ball won't make it come to you.
Alberto Aquilani came on for Pizarro late in 2H
Spal wanted him to defend and wasn't really involved much in the offense
Simone was alright, it looked like he and Fra switched places and Fra was treq again.
He's growing a beard now, trying to look sexy.
And yes, there are only three pics of Perrotta. Woe.
Pizarro turned it on and turned it out, y'all!
He knows Aqui is hot on his heels, ready to take over his spot on the starting XI.
Pizarro hardly lost any balls, and was recovering possession mostly. Bitch was on his A-game. I'm a proud momma.
Spal was pleased as well.
But he had his usual "figure of authority" mo's
"Who the hell left Kaka open!?"
"Who you calling Humpty Dumpty!?"
They had a hug before the whistle.
Whai so angsty, Spal?
Ok, wait, so there's more Perrotta shots after all.
Look at the unloved_TP, teaming up on Ducklet.
I'd be reacting this way too if I had Taddei marking me.
Gobz was good, who knew he could tackle?
He did his :o faces, but he was useful, so I'll turn a blind eye.
Again with the :o
:o Face # 980
Also, Favalli looks like a duke.
Karate
Homeboys
Defense was good, except for that sudden lapse of common sense in which Juan left Kaka unmarked.
Seedorf had numerous shots on goal, which miraculously never found the net. Thanks, Donieber.
For most of the first half, all Roma did was cross from the left. Max Tonetto was quite stellar at it.
This was pre-match during the banner exchange between Capis
Fra pinched that little girl's cheeks in the tunnel before they went up the stairs. I saw the cuteness.
Capi was the engine of the whole offense.
He and Pirlo crossed paths a lot
Tongue sighting # 780
It's a Roma thing, if you haven't noticed.
They be trying to exorcise teh ball.
Rino got a booking after multiple run-ins of this nature
Rino: Come back here *strangles*
2-on-1
Yum, Capi on Capi
Mhmm, someone wants a piece of Paolo
psst Danielino, you will have your turn. When you are Capi.
When Fra missed his best chance at goal, Paolo rubbed his head. I squeal.
Fra was all alone and he would've easily made that shot, but alas!
He missed
But, he kept on trooping
Hero of the match, Mirko
He's very lucky against Milan, he also scored in the first leg.
Daniele delivered the long ball from right smack in the middle of the pitch, just by the mid-line, towards Mirko, who was strategially positioned just in front of the goalmouth.
Mirko tapped that in, oh so conveniently.
Doing his "finish line" pose
2-1 Roma
Fra boosted himself on Mirko's shoulder like he did at the Bernabeu.
"Who's your daddy?"
They like to tug on each other's clothing, these boys.
Really, they do.
What did I just say?
I love Mirko's "earthquake" goal celebration. I can't describe it, but it looked like he shook his body as it would in an earthquake. Y'all saw it.
Mirko's packing some junk in that Montenegrin trunk!
By which I mean, here comes Panucci.
The rest caught up
Group hug, y'all.
Apart from pulling on each other's clothing, they also like to smack each other on the face. Check out Aquilani on Totti.
This is how they show love.
Is Pato winking at Aquilani? And what is Daniele mad about this time?
We won, we won!
Perrotta, leave them alone. The Roman wants some alone time with Mirko.
Leave them be. They want to do aggro headbutts together, ok!?
Growling at each other
♥
Scorer and assister
Yeah I have 500 versions of this pic. Deal with it.
And of course, after yelling at each other, they hugged.
From afar
Of course the head rubs followed
Three points to the Romans
And why is Fra glaring? Hee, Albe and Paolo.
Alberto was pleased with the result, needless to say.
No, he didn't score, but he was overjoyed about beating Milan. Romans are very emotional, you see.
Muscle man poses for added flair
Applauding the curva
Thanks to Angel for the photos! [Rebbibia awaits ♥]
Derby on Wednesday versus Lazio. Kickoff has been moved to 4:15 EST due to some scheduling experimentation. Philippe Mexes is rumoured to return for the Rome derby. So, yay.
