I declare a meme.

Because I can. And I have a vague memory that it might have even gone around before, but I don't care, so complete is my meme-declaring.

Name 5 or more songs that you completely adore but would be totally mortified to admit you adore, because it would so screw up the cool/indie/goth/hip-hop/dance/whatever vibe everyone knows you for. If it's ( Read more... )

OK, here goes nothing...

1. "Larger Than Life", by the Backstreet Boys...and the worst part is, I used to drive around LA with it blaring loudly in my car, "singing" along to it *hides head in shame*

2. "Fool Country" (from the movie Xanadu) by Olivia Newton-John (or ONJ, as the cool kids know her). Since the moment the soundtrack to Xanadu was released, I could never figure out why the last batch of songs (which included "Fool Country") and the super-extended roller disco version of the song "Xanadu" were never released on vinyl. OK, I know, but I still wanted a copy of the song...thank goodness for Napster, and now the greatest hits collection from ONJ, which has "Fool Country" for the first time on CD. Wheeeeeee!

3. "Enough is Enough" by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. Enough said.

4. "Live Your Life, Be Free" by Belinda Carlisle. Nobody knows this song (or any other Belinda Carlisle song/album released after the Heaven is a Place on Earth album), because it never received any airplay on MTV or the radio...but I love it. When I play it, I play it loud (but only in my car, so none of my neighbors will hear it).

5. hmmm...nope, I can't think of any other songs that...uh...well...no...

OK, FINE! I completely adore "Your Body is a Wonderland" by John Mayer. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!?!?

Admitting it is the first step. ::hugs you::

2. All Xanadu music is a guilty pleasure. And the movie had Gene Kelly in it, which excuses every other offense of which it's guilty.

3. "Enough is Enough" by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. Enough said.

4. "Live Your Life, Be Free" by Belinda Carlisle.

Aren't these two required to get your Gay Club membership? ::ducks::

:) I completely adore it too, so much so that I'm not even that aware of how lame it is, but I keep being told so. Actually, I have an acoustic version that I downloaded at some point, and I'm sorry, it's even cooler that way. It's just little and quiet and personal that way, and much sexier than the big produced version, IMO. So we have solidarity on that, never fear.

Okay, but just be advised: it's a song about Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Bleh.
