OMG you guys, if you want to do yourselves a favor, go and see Lars and the Real Girl. One of the sweetest, most awesome movies I've seen in forever. The script is stellar, the acting is layered and wise, and Ryan Gosling is just marking time till he gets an Oscar for something, so he's always worth watching. true. i think it went way beyond what people have come to expect in terms of "indie quirk" and went straight for weird that you have accept.

Yeah, totally. In most indie films, I expect this too-cool-for-the-room, let's-laugh-at-the-characters vibe, and this one went nowhere near that. It put real people who really care in an absurd situation and showed you how it might play out.

I saw it this weekend as well and totally agree. I have to add that I loved the costuming--the layering, the one-shirttail hanging out on both Lars and Margo, and the on-point variety of old-lady sweatshirts.

Ryan Gosling is so amazing.
