After a delightfully social weekend that produced many fond memories, I decided that Sunday afternoon was the perfect time to start my week. I spent the afternoon surfing Craigslist and sending out resumes to a bunch of different job listings. I received an email saying that my one and only class on Monday (today) was canceled, meaning I had an extra weekend day. Cut to today. In honor of having nothing to do, I had a lovely breakfast date with some friends, followed by a jaunt to my favorite places in the world: the gym and Trader Joe's. However, an interesting thing happened on the way to the gym. One of the companies I applied to less that 24 hours before called, requesting I come in for an "interview." (I use quotation marks because she also asked if I could start immediately in the same breath.) So, to make a very long story short, I HAVE A JOB. I am an intern at an advertising agency in TriBeCa. Gone are the days of living for the gym and wasting my life on the internet. My first official day was today, and I will continue to work as much as possible. I work from 12-6 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday I have off, seeing as how I have class from 9:30 until 7:45. Friday is the icing on the cake, as I work from 9-5. I AM BECOMING AN ADULT AND I'M NOT SURE THAT I LIKE IT.
The Good News: I am making money. I will be able to afford things like, oh I don't know, food. There is a possibility of summer employment, which means I would be in this grand city with some of my favorite people in the universe. I can now say "I work in advertising" (and then flip my hair and strut away). I get to practice my copy-editing skillz.
The Bad News: I have to decide if I actually want to be here this summer (I just assumed I would be back in Denver). I have a job. This is eating up ALL of my free time. I no longer have time to go to the gym during the day, and for those of you who know me, this is a BIG problem.
Beggars can't be choosers. For now, I have job with people who seem very nice and extremely easy to work with. I will keep you posted on the news, but come on, talk about a RANDOM Monday!
