On Sunday, we had a busy and very warm day. After spending day at home on Saturday resting, I was determined to have adventures on Sunday. Kids woke up at about 8am, by the time we got dressed and ate breakfast it was almost 10am. My friend and I agreed to take kids to Macy’s annual holiday display show. I have heard about this show but never had a chance to go there. So, we packed kids in their car seats and went to downtown Minneapolis. We parked at the ramp of Radisson hotel. The ramp was heated, so we left all our jackets in the car, took elevator to the skyway level. Girls enjoyed running in the store and riding on the elevators. Mishka kept hanging on me, I guess he was jealous that I was holding Michelle more often then I paid attention to him. He kept trying to tell me some story about some football players that I didn’t have interest or time or place to listen to. I had to watch out after running Michelle, keep up conversation with my friend and find the right way to go.
The show was very cute, especially for little kids like Michelle. It was like we were in a fairy tale. Michelle was looking at all of the dolls/characters and animals with interest and named them if she knew what it was. Mishka, apparently, already had seen this display with grandparents a few years ago and was not as excited as Michelle was. My friend and her daughter, who is a little big older then Michelle, also enjoyed the display. We had a very nice time and let kids run around after we got out of the Elf land.
We got home around 1pm. Girls were supposed to nap around that time. Since Michelle slept in the car a little, we decided to eat lunch quickly and go visit Boris’ grandpa, who is 95 and who was in the hospital 2 weeks ago. When we came to visit grandpa, he was seating on the kitchen playing cards with his son-in-law. Grandpa didn’t look very good at first, his eyes were watery. However, as Michelle started showing off her ballet moves and started talking, he started laughing and smiling and he was back to normal as he was 10 years ago. Mishka played a Russian card game (duraka) with his great grandpa . We just taught him to play this particular game. We know that grandpa loves this game and has a lot of stories to tell about playing cards. All of us had a great time. I wish Boris would take Michael and visit grandpa at least once a week. I have been asking him to do it for years!!! We only get to visit grandpa on his birthday or like now, when he is not feeling well.
After we got home, Michelle went to nap and Mishka asked me to bake cookies again. Our cookies that we made on Saturday didn’t turn out very good, so this time we did sugar cookies. They turned out better. I am not a big cookie lover, but these cookies looked good and tasted normal like sugar cookies should, no more no less.
I was happy that finally we got to visit grandpa, that was the highlight of the day!
