We just got done celebrating
Earth Hour over here. It was scary sitting with no lights, so Bean lit us a candle.
It was also boring. ... okay, so it was boring for everyone but Kirsten, who insisted that that's how normal people do things anyway. So I asked her, what would people in 1854 do to keep entertained?
"You, Bean and Jess play instruments, and no one broke your fingers either," said Kirsten, "so hop to."
Bean's bass was in the back room with no windows, and she was afraid of tripping with the candle and burning the whole place down, so she got her viola out. I got my viola out, and Jess got her guitar. Lucky us, Jess and I all learn music from Bean, so we more or less know the same tunes. Bean says not everyone can just jam like we wound up doing.
It was pretty swank. Bean has a hand recorder, maybe we'll record ourselves sometime when Bean isn't too chicken to get her bass.
Ivy was really interested in Jess' guitar. Maybe Ivy will get a guitar too? That would be really weird. Maybe Ivy should just learn a different instrument so we can all play different things. Bean says she knows how to operate 'pretty much everything besides the banjo and maybe the oboe on a bad day', so that's lots to choose from.
