So another year has come and gone, and 2007 has begun. What's different? Well...
1. I quit smoking
Thanks to this incredible medication called Chantix, I have gone from a pack and a half a day to none at all. And that's in about two weeks. And I have never felt better. The only downside is my newly rediscovered sense of smell. Boston is full of car exhaust and rancid garbage. Oh well.
2. I joined a gym
Yeah, although laziness had become a trademark of mine during the college era, it dawned on me that physical activity might not be such a bad idea. So I go to the gym 5 or 6 days a week. Although it's weird being five or ten years younger than everyone else [Beacon Hill Athletic Club is a yuppy haven], it's a nice small gym with a lot of cool features. And there aren't any Arnold wannabe's around, so I don't feel embarassed by my tiny frame. Sweet deal.
3. I got a new job
Working for American Eagle was killing me. Seriously. For a job with shitty pay, they sure do their best to work every last cent out of you. So I left the corporate retail world behind. Now, I am working in a small shop on Beacon Hill called Black Ink. It was originally a stamp store, and now carries cards, housewares, office items, toys and so on. Tiny, tiny little place. The company has three locations - mine, one in Harvard Square, and a third in Brattle Square called the Museum of Useful Things. The owner knows me by name, I have worked with almost everyone in the company, I get paid well, and...45 minute paid breaks! The best part is the three minute commute. Clutch.
Ok, so that's not too terribly much. But it feels really good. Reeeeally good. This year could be my best yet? Time will tell. Hopefully this year more people will come visit? Open invitation, seriously. I promise to show you a good time here in the Bean!
