Life, TV, etc.
Hi! Hi flist! I feel like I haven't updated in forever. Correction: I HAVEN'T updated in forever. Sigh.
But but but it was a slow day at work, so I figured I'd drop a line. I want to know how y'all are doing. Also, I want to talk TV! So much TV! Let's talk TV, 'kay?
First, TV TALK:
1) So, I finally started watching Skins. Just finished Series 1. Am in total love. Why did no one tell me I should watch this? (I kid, I kid ... everyone told me I should watch this, and everyone was right). Also, itsy bit in love with Chris. Or maybe just Joe Dempsie. Not sure. But his face!
Also adore Cassie and Maxxie. I can’t decide if I love Tony, or absolutely hate him. Either way, I know I’m fascinated. ALSO WHAT WAS THAT MUSICAL SEQUENCE AT THE END OF THE SERIES? I don't know but I love it.
2) Halfway through Boardwalk Empire Season 2. Does anyone else watch it? It’s not up there with the very best of the cable dramas to me, but I’m definitely getting more and more intrigued. I’m loving me some Margaret, Chalky White (definitely Omar Little’s great grandfather, it’s a fact) and of course, this guy:
He's a mean shot with half a face and lot of sad feelings. What's not to love?
3) Speaking of top notch cable dramas, I watched Deadwood, and yep, it turns out the world wasn't lying when it said it was great. Moral ambiguity all over the place, complicated relationships (romantic and otherwise) between all sorts of surprising characters, and amazing actors who can pull it all off. Plus, it features Al Swearengen, who ranks up there as one of my favorite truly ANTI ANTI ANTI heroes of all time. I might have to make a separate post about him at some point.
And you guys. YOU GUYS. The dialogue on this show is amazing. Shakespeare peppered with profanity. Just a few examples:
"Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back."
"In life you have to do a lot of things you don’t fucking want to do. Many times, that’s what the fuck life is… one vile fucking task after another."
"If I bleat when I speak, it’s because I’ve just been fleeced."
Watch it, is what I'm saying.
4) OUAT's most recent episode is it's best in ages, in my opinion. I saw Neal being Bae coming from a mile away, but man, the Emma-Neal-Rumple scenes were all utterly fantastic, and I can't wait to see where they go from here. Rumple is by far my favorite character, and fucked up parent-child relationships are my kryptonite, so I just adore this plot.
5) Revenge. RIP Fauxmanda. I'll miss you and your crazy. Hate hate hate Aiden. LOVE LOVE LOVE Victoria and Conrad. I'm glad to see more Nolan + Emily scenes recently. Those are my feelings about Revenge.
7) I love Elementary. Everything about it. Sherlock is actually, weirdly but perfectly, SWEET, and Joan is great, and I both ship them and love them as forever friends and I love the cops too and GUH. This show is so good, that is all.
8) Anyone else still watch Being Human (UK)? Because I am loving this series and Alex. I want to talk about it!
9) WHO ELSE WATCHES PRETTY LITTLE LIARS CAN WE PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO BOW DOWN TO THE AWESOME THAT IS CRAZY!SPENCER BECAUSE SHE IS MY EVERYTHING. This is the face of a smart, determined girl who thinks she has nothing left to lose. And it is perfect.
SECOND, it's almost my favorite time of the fannish year: FANDOM MARCH MADNESS. And I'm really, REALLY hoping that Nashville gets included, so that I can stan the heck out of my new favoritest character: Juliette Barnes. AKA this flawless disaster of a beautiful, broken diva:
Do any of you guys watch Nashville (I know you do, olga_keepout!)? And if so, do you want to come share my Juliette love?
Also also also: I love New Girl so much, and ship Nick/Jess so hard. So, so hard.
