Doctor Who

I loved it. LOVED IT.

Things I loved:
-- RORY. RORY WHO HAS MY HEART FOREVER. I love that his biggest assets as a companion are a) being observant, and b) being the only one with any sense of practicality. I love how much he loves Amy. I love how he understands how Amy feels about the Doctor ("I don't really have to." Oh, Rory ♥). I love his interactions with Eleven. I love that he really likes the Doctor, but does also kinda... doesn't, sometimes, you know? It's a nice contrast from Amy and River, who both stand up to The Doctor but, despite River's quips, are always thrilled with him, even when they're annoyed with him.
-- River Song. JFC. I can't believe I used to not like her that much after Silence in the Library. This women. Clever, badass, TRAGIC. God. Her talking about the day the Doctor would meet her for the first time broke my heart. I want to re-watch that arc now.

-- AMY. Her heartbreak over the Doctor's death was fantastic. She has such strong feelings, such a big heart. Oh, Amy.
-- Eleven, of course. Especially loved everything in the Oval Office, from his sneakily trying to take notes to his complaining about not getting a fez. "Mrs. Robinson" God, I love you, Eleven.
-- Eleven/River. I always liked the idea of it, but now I'm fucking SOLD. A+ chemistry. Love the banter. Love the "I love a bad girl." Love the tragedy.
-- In general I love this team Tardis, both Doctor/Amy/Rory (OT3!) and Doctor/Amy/Rory+River (two ships! Amy/Rory and Doctor/River!). But it's not just about the shipping -- I just really enjoy having a three or four person dynamic. It's a nice change of pace.
-- I LOVE Amy and River's interactions. I love how well they get along, how they can bond over both teasing and loving (in their different ways) the Doctor without ANY jealousy. They both really like each other, and that's awesome.
-- "You think you can just shoot me?"/"They're American!" Lol.
-- Mark Sheppard. Oh, Mark Sheppard. Always great.
-- The aliens. JFC so creepy (both the way the look, and the concept of an alien you immediately forget. Why so good at making creepy things, Moffat?)
-- "Is that a star trek mask?"
-- The timey-whimy. I know some people are tired of it, but I basically always enjoy it.
-- Monument Valley!

Things I didn't love:
-- I'm not sure how I feel about Amy being pregnant. Does this mean she'll leave at the end of the Series to have a baby? I'd be sad. It could work, though.
-- Nope, that's it. I loved it. I think I'm going to have to steer away from the main com because damn it, haters gonna hate, but I don't want to hear it.

Can't wait to see what happens next week! I'm so excited for this Series!

In related news, here's an interesting thing I noticed that really highlights the difference between the Nu!Who Doctors:

-- Nine refused to have dinner at home with Rose. He was too broken and scared of pain and angry at himself for that kind of day-to-day experience.
-- Ten had dinner at home with Rose on his very first day, and it was lovely. He was so very human in so many ways.
-- Eleven had dinner at home with Amelia. But it was super crazy. He loves people, but has no idea how to act like a normal human being. Because he's so very not.

Some people around the internet (not much on my flist from what I've seen) seem frustrated about the fact that there was a lot of "WTF is going on?" in this episode. I find that so interesting, because I LOVE shows that leave me scratching my head -- especially when I can have faith that things will get resolved, and within a season (which, based on Series 5, I CAN here). But I guess that's why I love shows like BSG, Lost, Fringe, etc.
