[There is a hint of static on the other end, something rustling in the background as he nearly dropped the phone a few times. A low mumble of 'how long is this chord anyway' before there's a 'gnrk'. He found out the length of the phone chord! There's a bit of scrambling before he's finally speaking into the phone, a bit of a whisper. He had dialed ( Read more... )

[peering in from the backyard. he's used to the drones in the house being quiet and this screaming didn't sound like Kid, so that could only mean one thing!]

Ah, another loud one. What a shame.

[Was just clutching the phone, looking around warily- this would have been so cool if he wasn't in all those pictures, that was a little creepy. He also felt very naked without his sharpie and hammer. And between those deep thoughts he saw a head. A person! O-Oh god that was one of the kids in the pictures! Fffff just inching further under the table, clutching the phone to him. Just. Staring.]

[well at least the table dweller isn't yelling into the phone anymore. that puts him in a bit of a better mood even if...his good and slightly-better-than-good moods look exactly the same.]

You look a little young to be in the father position.

[Usually the smile would comfort him, and he'd eagerly smile back and all that fluffy nonsense but... he's seen his fair share of creeper movies, and after those pictures he's feeling very paranoid. But gnnnh, that jab at his age.]

...

I'm twenty four.

Oh? That's a nice age.

[his tone is pretty dismissive with a side of 'd'awwww what an adorable little kid'. not that he's intentionally being insulting, but there are more important things to ask.]

What's your name, then? You might be here for a while and it'd be good to know that much.

[...doesn't like your tone, young man. But who was he to argue with one of the kids in the weird pictures? He didn't have his hammer or sharpie, so he's in self preservation mode.]

Uh... It's Hanna. Hanna Falk Cross.

[what a girly name to go with such a wee youthful face. even if his nephew has basically the same name, it just doesn't work with this Hanna. he's nice enough not to comment on it, at least, even if he looks pretty amused.]

Hanna, hm? You may call me Hao. Why don't you come out from under the table now?

[oh god it is so good that wasn't said out loud, but the amused look is irritating itself. BUT-- he won't say anything, because this was a bad time to nitpick on what someone thought about his name.

shifting now, unsure. sure the kid was acting all nice but that's just it--- ACTING. he could be a psycho killer, Hanna did not do well with psycho killers.]

That depends... just what sort of torture are you planning?

[...well. he's hideously correct about the smiling psycho killer bit, but lucky for him, Hao is a charming smiling psycho killer who isn't currently in the mood to roast anyone. for now.

that is always subject to change, though.]

What a silly thing to say. If you believe you're here because of me, you're mistaken. I have nothing to do with your appearance - we just happen to be assigned to the same house.

[Well. You win, Hao. He's finally crawling out from under the table, brushing himself off and looking a bit disgruntled.]

So is that why I'm in the pictures?

[He couldn't make sense of this at all.]

Like... I'm stuck here? As a family?

[ahahaha sweet victory. he's just going to continue lounging near the back door, probably letting a bunch of bugs and things in. so considerate.]

In the eyes of this town, yes. Mayfield is fond of little games like this, but they do grow tiresome quickly. You should be fine as long as you have a decent amount of patience and exercise common sense. [why yes, that last part is a very subtle threat disguised as help!]
