Comment here with your name and I'll tell you something I adore (or at least mildly like) about you. (or I'll tell a funny story about you) Afterwards, copy and paste this into your own journal.

I doubt if I'll really do this since I'm rarely online, but in theory I would like to try it since I don't want you guys to think I've forgotten about you or anything.

Cambodia is incredible. I have so much to write about it, but will have to wait for another day. I've already filled up pages and pages of my journal trying to make sense of how overwhelmed I feel here - by a history that is at once glorious and tragic as well by the current political, social, economic climate of a country still recovering from decades of civil war and genocide. But I just spent a couple of days exploring this abandoned French hill station that is without doubt the eeriest and most wonderful place in the world (think: rolling hills, decaying buildings where hundreds of people were killed, desolate landscape, fog so thick you can't see twenty feet in front of you, no electricity, no inhabitants save for a few rangers, 40 km from the nearest town on an unpaved, winding road through the jungle). Here's a photo of the Catholic church, neglected by the French in the 40s and later overtaken by the Khmer Rouge fighting Vietnamese forces in the 70s.
