Day one of new bike: my first ever bike accident! Bike injuries stink. In addition to bloody knee, am also in posession of bloodier foot, and grossly scraped up left arm, which is oozing clear liquid from my shoulder. Sick.
It's all kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy after just writing an email about how I was afraid that when I used the brakes I would smash my face off. I saw the creepy man who sold me the bike walking on the sidewalk, and became paralyzed with "oh my god, he really IS stalking me!" fear. A car came really close to me and I couldn't reach the brake quickly enough due to fear paralysis and a bag of groceries in my hand. My hummus, and I, splattered all over the ground, as all kinds of cars whizzed by.
It may look minute, but it STINGS and was really scary! I just want someone to wash it out for me and to cradle me like my mum would have done when I was wee. Mostly I am just a little shaken and will probably avoid riding on Mont Royal for the next bit. Is the transition to road bikes always this shakey, or am I really just a klutz?
Maybe I should get over my helmet aversion already?
I need a hug.
