Waking up snuggled with Addison was rapidly becoming one of Izzie’s favourite pastimes.  It had only happened twice so far and both times the blonde had to pinch herself to ensure she wasn’t still asleep and embroiled in a wonderful dream. Instead she found herself in a very vivid reality. She sighed with satisfaction as she relived the moment that very morning when she woke up, she groaned as she turned, aching slightly from the previous night’s activities. Quickly she realised the very cause of that ache, with the gentle weight of Addison draped across her restricting her movement.

Sensing movement beside her the blonde turned her head slightly, willing the evidence of her thoughts to disappear from her face.

“Ohmygod.” Exclaimed Cristina as she sat beside the blonde.

“What?” Izzie asked suspiciously.

“You totally had sex last night.”

“What? How do you know?” Izzie shrieked.

“You have that look. I know the look and you’ve not had that look for a long time. That is how I know.” Cristina explained nonchalantly.

“Huh?”

“Are you going to tell me who you’ve been doing the dirty with or are you just going to play dumb?”

“I err,” Izzie attention was temporarily diverted. Cristina followed her gaze, almost spitting out the coke she had just taken a sip of.

“Ohmygod.” The Asian doctor repeated, wiping coke from her scrub top. “You totally had sex with Montgomery.” She beamed excitedly.

“What? No . . . Yes.” Izzie sighed in defeat, when Cristina was onto something she would not give up. Izzie relenting would lead to an easier life.

“Wow. That is so hot.”

“Hey, my relationship with Addison will not be the subject of your fantasies.” Izzie said, swatting her friend’s arm.

“Relationship?” Cristina drawled disbelievingly. “Is it serious?”

Izzie sighed, “I think so.”

“You think so?”

“Are you just going to repeat everything I say?”

“Of course not.” Cristina answered swiftly, “That would be childish.” She smiled.

“I really, really like her, and we’ve been  getting to know each other a lot lately and when she showed up, it was just . . . incredible.” Izzie spoke honestly, “She’s everything I could want in a girlfriend. We get along so well, it’s like we’ve known each other forever. Conversation is so easy, there’s always something to talk about and I learn so much from her.”

“Wow.” Cristina said again, “You have it bad. I can’t say I’m a not surprised, but at the same time you’re both a little . . . hmm how can I put it, odd? Or quirky? I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s a quality you both share, besides you both being smoking hot of course. The sex must be incredible.”

“Seriously, Cristina? Stop talking like that.” Izzie warned.

“Ok, I’m sorry, but congratulations. So what happens now?”

“I don’t know, she goes back to LA tomorrow and I don’t want to think about it.” Izzie said sadly.

“Oh Iz. You could go with her?”

Izzie laughed, “I can’t do that, she hasn’t asked me. Besides, it’s new living together this early could be disastrous.”

“Who said anything about living together? You could move to LA and just be near her.”

“Hmm. I never thought about that.”

“Well do think about it because as far as I can tell, you seem really happy.”

“I don’t even know if we’re in a relationship.”

“You said ‘relationship’. It was you who said that word.” Cristina accused.

“I did, what if it was wishful thinking?”

“Don’t start having doubts now Stevens. What happened to that kick ass decisive Izzie  we all know and sometimes loathe?”

“You loathe me?”

Cristina shrugged, “Sometimes you can be a little scary when you get ‘enthusiastic’ with something.” The brunette raised her hands to indicate quotation marks. Izzie was shocked at this revelation.

“Am I really that bad?”

“Only sometimes. Oh geez, I shouldn’t have mentioned it.”

“It’s ok, I’m not going to become ‘enthusiastic’ about it.” The blonde smiled warmly.

“Have you talked to Dr Montgomery about this?”

“No. Not really. We’ve just been making the most of the few days we have together.”

“You know LA is only a two and a half hour flight, there’s this thing called a telephone, great invention. Then there’s something called the Internet, I don’t know if you’re familiar with it . . .” That earned a laugh from the blonde. “See it’s not all doom and gloom.”

“We’ve been using said telephone and internet for a few weeks now.” Izzie replied.

“And how’s that working out for you?”

“We’re in contact pretty much all of the time.” The blonde replied.

“Well that’s great.”

Izzie sighed once again, “Not when I can’t touch her, smell her, hold her.”

“Then you have extra special weekends when you meet up. Come on Izzie, look at the positive side here.”

“When did our roles get reversed?” Izzie asked with a frown.

“I don’t know. And quite frankly, I don’t want to know.” Izzie laughed at her friend. “What is she doing here anyway, and you, it’s Saturday, you have the day off.”

“I got paged, Addison came with me. She thought she would check on her patient while I worked.”

“That sucks. When are you out of here?”

“I have some paperwork to complete then we are out of here.”

“Enjoy the rest of your weekend.” Cristina said with a smirk, rising from her chair. Izzie laughed.

“Head out the gutter Yang.”

“Make sure you have that talk before she leaves.” Cristina patted the blonde on the shoulder before picking up her tray.

“I will.” Izzie stated. “Thank you Cristina.”

“You’re welcome. That’s my quota for the rest of the month of being nice.”

“OK.” The blonde laughed, “I won’t expect any more from you.” The brunette smirked and left Izzie to contemplate her next course of action.

“No Pete, please, look we’ll talk when I get back . . . tomorrow . . . no . . . you need to stop calling me and texting me . . . it was one time . . . I do not look at you like that . . . you are a nice guy it’s just . . . there’s someone else . . . no Pete . . . look I have to go . . . I’ll see you on Monday. Goodbye.” Addison sighed as she hung up the call, her hand found it’s way to her head and she massaged her temple with thumb and forefinger.

“What was that about?”

“Jeez, Iz, I didn’t see you there.” Addison said, her hand jumping from her head to her chest, her palm flat over her racing heart. She took a moment and glanced at the blonde, her expression blank. “How much of that did you hear?” the redhead asked warily.

“Enough.” Izzie shrugged, her arms crossing her chest. Addison let out a shaky breath.

“It was Pete, a guy from work, he’s been hassling me to go out with him.” Addison said truthfully.

“It sounded like it was a bit more than that.” Izzie stated.

“Are you jealous?” Addison smirked.

“What? No!” exclaimed Izzie. She paused, Addison not taking the bait, “Ok, yes, and I know I have no right to be, I don’t even know what we are or where this is going.”

“You can be jealous, it’s flattering.” Addison said stepping closer to the blonde, they were stood in a quiet corner outside of the ladies bathroom, Addison had disappeared a good twenty minutes earlier, a worried Izzie had gone in search of the wayward redhead. Addison placed a hand on Izzie’s cheek and watched the brown eyes before her rush through an array of emotions as she inched closer until their noses almost touched, both pairs of eyelashes fluttering closed as their lips met in a soft, heart warming kiss. It was gentle and tender, their lips moved against each other, sweet sounds emanating from the contact. Izzie dared to brush her tongue lightly across Addison’s lips, the redhead opened her mouth inviting Izzie in. The blonde took advantage and plunged her tongue into Addison’s mouth, seeking her lover’s tongue, enjoying the feel of it upon her own.  Izzie’s hands found themselves on the other woman’s hips, pulling her closer, Addison’s own fingers threading through blonde locks. Both women moaned and groaned with pleasure and content, a feeling of belonging overwhelmed them both. Struggling for air, they reluctantly and ever so slowly pulled apart, their faces remained mere millimetres apart, warm rapid breaths mingling, heavy lidded eyes gazed at one another, their hands remained, each scared to move and lose the magical contact.

“Will you be girlfriend?” Izzie asked, her voice shaking and barely above a whisper. Addison smiled, she tucked the blonde’s hair behind her ear and stroked her cheek with such affection, it was portrayed in her eyes also, Izzie thought she would spontaneously combust on the spot.

“Yes.” She said as she moved into another sweeping kiss.

“Jeez, guys, get a room.” The crash back to reality was courtesy of Cristina Yang. Bewildered, the two women parted and looked disbelievingly at the other woman. “Seriously guys, hot and everything, but you may want to move it to somewhere more private.” And with that the brunette was gone.

“Ok, that was a little . . . weird.” Addison stated. Izzie laughed.

“She knows and she’s filled her quota of being nice.” The blonde said, confusion reigned on Addison’s face, “Don’t worry about it.” Izzie stated and planted a reassuring kiss on her lips.

Both women were now sat at a table in a secluded corner of Joe’s, each finding it really difficult to keep their eyes and hands from each other. They were smitten and right now they didn’t care who knew. Life was too short to worry about other people’s reactions, and following the revelation that Cristina had been so casual about it, they took on a flippant attitude in terms of controlling their feelings in public. It didn’t mean they were overly casual with their PDA, they were merely more relaxed in how they reacted to one another. There was a lot of handholding and leg rubbing, they just had to be constantly in contact with each other. It was like a breath of fresh air, Izzie hadn’t felt this giddy about anyone in a long time, it was new and exciting and she wanted to cling on to it.

“Who’s Pete?” Izzie asked suddenly, referring back to the conversation she caught Addison having on the phone.

“I thought I had distracted you enough not to remember that.” Addison laughed.

“It’s ok for you to laugh, but it’s been playing on my mind.”

“Aw baby.” Addison said, stroking her fingers up and down the blonde’s thigh.

“Pete is a work colleague. We sort of had a very brief thing when I first arrived in LA, but that was it for me. He keeps pestering me for a date, for something more. But hopefully now he knows there is someone else, he’ll leave me alone.” Addison said.

“He better leave you alone.” Izzie stated. “You’re my girlfriend.” The blonde beamed.

“I am.” Addison smiled, squeezing Izzie’s leg.

“Your touch is driving me crazy.” The resident sighed.

“You’ll have to wait a little longer till we’re alone.”

“We could just go now.” Izzie suggested.

“Then that would be avoiding a conversation we need to have.” Addison said with a wink.

“Oh that conversation.” The blonde laughed nervously.

“Hey, it’s ok. We’ll be ok Iz. Now we’re together, in a relationship, we’ll make it work.” The redhead said sincerely. Izzie looked into the crystal clear blue eyes and believed every word Addison spoke. “It’s new, we’re still finding our feet. We can phone, text, email, IM, Bookface . . .” the last word made Izzie laugh. “And we’re a couple hours apart by plane, and don’t worry about the price, I got it covered.”

“Oh now you just make me sound like a whore.” The blonde feigned hurt.

“Aw, you know you mean more to me than just sex.” Addison teased. “We can see each other every other weekend. We can take it in turns, you can come to me, I’ll come to you. Are you ok with all this?”

“Very ok. You’re my girlfriend and we’re going to make this work.” Izzie beamed. “Can we go back to the hotel now?” she said as she snuggled closer to the redhead, her nose nuzzling Addison’s neck. The redhead’s eyes fluttered closed and she moaned, her hand grasping Izzie’s thigh tightly.

“Oh yeah,” Addison breathed, “let’s go. Now.” She said, grabbing her purse and Izzie’s hand and dragged her toward the front door.

“About time you got that room!” Cristina yelled as the two women rushed passed.

“What?” Meredith’s head whipped around, “What’s going on, what have I missed?”
