Hey guys...I have 4 days left in Marietta, then I head back to Clovis for Christmas. For the record, I have had an incredible time out here. I've gotten to spend time with old friends and make a couple of new ones. I want to take a moment to talk about a really amazing moment I had two weeks ago. My parent's cooked a Thanksgiving-style dinner, and I was able to invite a bunch of friends. It was me, Mom, Dad, Fitz, Nephy, Robert, Brandon, Tony, Brooke, Jason (hers--not Nimer), Miriam, Josh, and Natalie. So everyone got their plates, and I figured it was going to be like any other main event, where everyone gets their food and then scatters all over the house. Instead, the coolest thing happened. All of our guests gathered around my parents dinner table (which by the way, is meant for 6...not 11). We pulled chairs out of other rooms, two of us wound up on barstools, and we all just sat around talking. To quote Coupland, "no one was being wierd or mean." It was just a great moment, where I actually felt like there's some hope for all of us after all. These guys, who I've known for as long as 11 years or as little as 2 weeks, who are some of the coolest, funniest, wierdest people I know, are going to manage to grow up all right. Fitz and I have a kid, Nephy and Robert are getting married, some of us are homeowners, some are still chasing dreams, and some are finishing their education. And the incredible thing is that, as different as we all are, we are able to hang out, and talk, and appreciate each other. I felt like we might actually be starting to grow up...yet we still had a really great time!
Later, everyone took off to go see Kyle (in town from Navy for weekend) except for Mim and Josh, so the two of them, me and Fitz and the parentals played Trivial Pursuit 90's Edition. About 10 minutes in Kami showed up and she joined in too. We were playing until like 1 in the freakin morning!
Going shopping and lunching today, tomorrow I'm family bound, and Saturday night is the Nigh Eve concert. If you want in, call my parent's house or my dad's cell. If you need the number, email me.
Also, I'm interested in kicking it old-shool style on Friday night. I'm going ice skating at the Iceforum...7:30 to 9:30. Anyone interested?
