Abby was right. The best way to help Gibbs - and Tony - was to prepare the rest of the team for Gibbs' eventual return. With the Director, Abby, and Tony at their leader's side, and Anna the only other one who knew what was going on, she did what she had to: she was going to step up as temporary team leader. She wasn't a veteran of the team, but she'd make up for it with her years of investigative experience with the NYPD.

Heading to the center of the bullpen, she cleared her throat. "McGee, Michaels, Officer David. A moment?" It felt awkward to be doing this, but it was necessary. She just had to keep reminding herself of that.
