Once there was a time
When we could think for ourselves
Now we just conform
Oh joy, the cloudy skies and rain are back - that should make for a great weekend.

Looks like Microsoft canceled their internally developed MMORPG
Mythica:
Based on a careful evaluation of the competitive MMORPG landscape, Microsoft Game Studios has decided to cancel the Windows-based game “Mythica.” As a result of this effort, job eliminations within Microsoft Game Studios will take place, and up to 40 employees may be impacted.
Adam Waalkes, studio manager at Microsoft Game Studios, stated:
Our goal with ‘Mythica’ was to create a truly innovative massively multiplayer online role playing game. While the game looked ready to deliver advancements to the genre, after careful evaluation of the MMORPG landscape, MGS has decided to stream-line its portfolio, making fewer investments in this genre. After a rigorous review of current and future projects, the decision was made that Mythica would not be one of the projects we would continue to invest in.
We truly appreciate all the support ‘Mythica’ has received from its fans and the games community.
I can see both sides of this. On one hand, you've got a MMORPG with a unique concept and much potential, as well as an established community. I feel for the community - it's hard to invest time and effort into supporting a game that hasn't even been released, and even harder to accept the fact that you've basically wasted that time and effort, since the game will never see the light of day. On the other hand, the MMORPG market is virtually SATURATED with games that have either been released, will be released in the coming year, or are in development/been announced. There's just too many to keep up with, and perhaps Microsoft thought that Mythica, regardless of how good or unique it was, would suffer financially because it would be lost amongst the other countless games of the same genre.
I do hope that those who were working on Mythica, and will find themselves unemployed in short order, find work soon.
