Come a little closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away.
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.
Karaoke. With the right song, you can save the world. Or yourself, for that matter…
Maybe I should’ve recommended karaoke last week. But shit. Blood moon. Shell out, shell out, the vampires are about! It’s our night, dammit. We hunt. We prey. (And okay some of us hit the bars and sing Neil Young.) But if I’d known the state Victoria was truly in, I would’ve recommended therapy.
Deanna bounded into Victoria's room. Tonight was special, important. It was a blood moon, a time to hunt. Sure they chose to ignore Halloween for the obvious crass reasons but tonight, tonight was their night. She jumped onto Victoria's bed and started bouncing. "C'mon! You should be ready by now!"
Eyes sparked open and Victoria was pulled from introverted relaxation with a start. Those same orbs having to blink and the mind sure she would have had a heart attack, if it still beated. "Wha...? Huh...? Who...?"
"Blood moon! Blood moon! It's time to play silly!" This night had the same effect on Deanna every year. It was like drinking six cups of espresso. "Ang! Get in here and get your sister out of bed!"
Angelica strolls into the room and leans against the door jamb with a smile watching Deanna, "One would think you were on the sugar high, if I didn't know better."
Victoria had drawn legs up and risen skeptical eyebrow too. A nod of head gesturing to Deanna, as she enquired to Angelica the more obvious question: "She drunk?"
Laughs at Vicky's response, "Drunk on the day, I would say."
"Nononononono... it's the Hunter's Moon! C'mon Victoria..." Deanna pouted slightly. "Remember what I told you about Halloween? How we usually just lay low? Well this is our night! We've got to go have fun!"
"I'm..." Hand made a fidget and Vicky's gaze was drawn down to fingers with a sigh. "Not sure now is a good idea..."
Just looks confused, "But NOW is always a good idea!... it is like....well..."eyes sparkle a moment, "It is CHRISTMAS!!"
"And New Year's and Easter and Arbor Day, all rolled into one." There was a glint in Deanna's eye. "You can't say no."
Brow furrowed. Victoria couldn't help it - the recent love of her unlife was nowhere to be found. The best she could offer was a loose shrug. "Alright, but if I'm a drag, don't say you weren't warned..."
Blows a piece of hair form her face, "I am sure your mood will change." winks at Deanna.
The doorbell rang and Deanna jumped off the bed running to the door. "Ooooh, she's here!" With that, she turned and ran down the stairs.
Jumps out of the way, so Deanna doesn't nail her and goes and sits by Vicky, "You ok?"
There was a begrudging look of attention at what amounted to a sister of sorts. "No..."
Frowns realizing that was a stupid question, "All right dumb question, I get it. You don't want to talk. Come on let's go see Deanna's guest."
Sinala tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear as she waited on someone to answer the door. She'd been surprised when Deanna had called wanting her to go out tonight. It seemed she'd heard of her latest endeavors.
"I can... It'll just sound like rambling is all." And no doubt depress the heck out of anyone near her too, decided Victoria, before choosing to stand and make her way, following, down to door.
Follows Vicky and smacks her ass to move it.
"Hey...!"
Deanna opened the door, rocking on the tips of her toes. She wasn't sure Sinala would accept the invitation but she'd promised to show the girl the benefits of being a vampire.
Looking up, a grin crossed Sinala's face as she met Deanna's eyes. "You beckoned?" She stepped inside, giving a small wave to the other two.
Nodded at Sinala, "Sin! long time no see."
Deanna turned, a wide smile on her face. "Okay, this is Sinala. Like Alanis, only backwards. She's a bit of a hippy--" She stopped short when she heard Ang address the girl.
"Indeed it has been. Far too long." She smiled, turning her attention to Angelica. She shook her head with a laugh as Deanna commented on her name. "I'm never going to live that one down I see."
Victoria just gave a sort of upwards nod of greeting. The best she felt like doing was to offer a loose wave of hand, before crossing arms again.
"And this is Victoria," Deanna spouted as she ran to the girl. "She's my childe. Just made this year."
Wraps an arm around Vicky, "Sis, here doesn’t understand what today is and is a bit down."
"Yeah... Just add water," Victoria responded, with just a hint of amusement at the corners of mouth. A fellow American, though, rather than British.
Sinala tilted her head with a small grin and a nod. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance." Looking back at Angelica with her brow raised, she looked confused. "I fear I'm not aware of what today is either."
Laughs at Vicky's comment, "My, My, sis there is a bit of a rebel in you."
"Oh. My. God. What the hell did your sire teach you?" Deanna stared at Sinala. "It's only the best day of the year!"
"You have no idea..." Victoria countered, remembering the feelings whish had surged through her the other evening. To kill. Not to eat.
"My sire.." Sinala laughed. "Some hippy tripping on acid at Woodstock. Not so much on the educational benefits. Or have you forgotten?"
Shakes her head in disbelief, "Shit Deanna, even I knew that much about Sinala."
"Oh yeah." Deanna bit her bottom lip. A little too hard. A trickle of blood dripped down. "C'mon grumpy Gus," she said, grabbing Vicky's arm. "Tonight we hunt and feed and generally terrorize."
Licks Deanna's lip, "You have a leak."
Victoria was feeling tempestuous. She didn't say anything. A concealed expression. But a thousand thoughts were going through her mind. Had been gradually isolating herself recently, if anything.
"So what are we waiting for? Four undead girls, ready to take on the town. Kinda like 'Sex and The City', only hotter. And more vicious. And better fashion sense." The glint never left Deanna's eye.
Waves arms in the air, "Finally you understand the importance of fashion!"
"My family..." Victoria sighed in Sinala's direction. "The unliving nymphomaniacs."
Ang just turns and looks at Vicky, "And I think you fit in quite well then."
"With you inviting me out tonight, I take it my recent endeavors haven't gone unnoticed." Sinala laughed, nodding at Victoria. "Thankfully I've not became as such."
Grins at Sinala, "Well I am sure we could change that Sin."
"Word gets around, girlie." She led the others through the front door, locking it behind them.
Ouch... Angelica hadn't realized just how that badly-chosen that comment was. She hadn't had sex since... Juliet had gone. Without wanting to cause an argument, a forced smile was shot Angie's way.
Raised an eye brow at Vicky noticing her look and followed Deanna out the door.
"One change at a time Ang, I don't really want to overwhelm myself." Sinala fell into step with the others as they made their way down the street
"So," Deanna offered. "Babies? Will there be babies tonight?"
Lights up a cigarette, "They are so easy, but.. then again to watch the terror in the mommies and daddies eyes is quite fun."
"All in favour?" Deanna raised her hand high in the air.
"I will have to decline the offer on that one. I can't fathom harming such a helpless thing." Sinala reached over and took Angelica's cigarette, taking a drag and giving her a smirk. "Plus, there's no struggle. That's half the fun."
"Ang? Any ideas?" Deanna looped an arm around her childe.
Ang is quite amused by Sinala's attitude, and turned to Deanna pouting, "but.. I liked your idea and then kill the parents or wait let them live!"
"We have all night dear. Plenty of opportunity." Three girls passed by them then, and Deanna's face shifted, teeth glinting in the moonlight. "Trick or treat" she hissed, as they ran screaming.
Sinala shrugged. "No one said we had to all do the same thing. Conformity is so ...." She grinned wickedly as Deanna vamped out and scared the girls. "How much of a head start should we give them? Unless babies are more your forte`"
Victoria had remained silent, observing. She was aloof so far. But the anger, the feeling of being utterly and totally pissed off, was growing. It was then that she exploded - catching one by the hair.
Whips around watching Vicky shocked, "Damn Girl... "
Literally slamming the mortal up against the wall, with utterly cold precision, Victoria's true visage showed. "I say we gut this one right now..."
Crosses arms watching amused, "Yes.. yes gut her please....I bet she is prettier on the inside."
"Aren't we all?"
Deanna bolted towards the other two girls. She grabbed each by the throat and brought them back. "Can't leave stragglers."
Helped Deanna with the girls, "No stragglers... they need to join in the celebration."
Head tilted, regarding the girl with cold, machine-like instinct. "Say 'pretty please'..." But before she could, Victoria brought switchblade up, forcing it through throat and jamming it up, before slicing down throat. It didn't end there - kneeing the victim in stomach, forcing them to keel over, even as they struggled for air, Victoria twisted the head, almost tearing it off in the process of snapping.
"Fuck, Vicky!" eyes widened startled and kicked one of the screaming girls.
It took a lot to get Deanna to react. This was one of those times. "Damn girl, what's eating your ass tonight?"
"She didn't say 'pretty please'..." But there was no smile with it. No pleasure. Not even happiness. Victoria just wiped her blade against dead mortal's clothing.
Sinala stood back, watching with curiosity as Vicky violently ripped into the girl. She'd found her calling to be rewarding as of late, but this was different. More savage than she was accustomed to.
Deanna handed the final girl to Sinala for safe-keeping and turned to face Victoria. "Nope, there's more to it than that."
"Ya think Deanna.... " pulls on the girls hair foreign her to look at her friends body, "Guess what your next."
"Someone stop them FUCKING SCREAMING!" Victoria's gaze faced sire's then, golden hues refusing to shift back to humanity. "And?"
Holding the struggling girl, Sinala listened to them in front of her, trying to keep her attention diverted from the hunger that was inside her. She tightened her grip around the girl's throat, her face instinctually changing.
In a blur, Deanna grabbed Victoria by both shoulders and pushed her against the wall, nails digging into her flesh.
A wicked grin crossed her face as she sank her fangs deep into the girl's throat, drinking as she felt her pulse slowing. As the girl grew limp, she dropped her to the ground and wiped her mouth.
One knee pushing against the girl's sternum. "I don't know what the fuck is going on but you're going to tell me."
Gaze moved in Sinala's direction, allowing herself a sadistic sneer of smirk, at the sight of life extinguishing. The eyes blinking their way back to Deanna's face. "Am I now...?"
Sinala watched the three of them arguing and focusing on one another, paying no attention to her. Another wicked smile passed her face as she casually made her way over towards the remaining girl.
Yellow eyes met their twin. Steely. Unwavering. "Damned skippy."
It was her sire and she was trapped, but Victoria still felt game enough to put a front on. Attempting to relax back against the wall, as if unaffected. Face shifting to humanity for the same reason. "Girl trouble."
And there it was. Love. *sighs* She loves the human. Wouldn’t admit it, but you could smell it. And love is dangerous. It makes you stupid. I remember… a couple of years back though it feels like yesterday I nearly fell for some girl. Brunette, can’t remember her name though… Made me thoroughly stupid. Nearly got myself killed over her. *shivers* Never again.
But this is something Victoria is gonna have to work out for herself. She’s not happy I took care of her familial problem, and she’s sure as shit not gonna let me step in here. She either gets it out of her system, or ends up watching the sunrise. (I hope she chooses the former. I really do.)
