So, I've been pretty into RPing lately. This includes, obviously, my current enrollment in a Stargate based play by email game, and also includes rereading lots of amtgard posts from the yahoo board. Damn, that was a good game. Still is, and there are plots that need finishing up, damnit! So I think here pretty soon I'm gonna gather up all my characters there and make sure they're up to date, and when they are, I'm gonna send little notes to my partners and tell 'em that I'm back if they are. There wasn't any drama - we just all got busy. It happens every so often, and that's ok, but I'm starting to fiend again, thanks in no small way to Skywatch. I've been really lucky on Skywatch.
Cuz I missed this. I'm doin the whole make up a world and play in it thing, doing that for myself through writing my book. But it's different when you're playing with other people. Makes it a sort of social creation. Like painting a picture with lots of other people, and all you can do is hang on for the ride and hope it ends up lookin cool. And if it doesn't, there's always tomorrow's painting. Ok, enough about painting already. For fuck's sake.
See, I like getting really involved. My little fairy boy is a natural musical being, so I wrote a lot of original songs for him to draw from. I created his whole dynamic, from feature to flaw, and i'm proud of that. And I put work into the Seeker culture, and into the Them plotline. And I drew everyone until I knew what they looked like and could put them in a scene without thinking too hard about it. I wrote the Law and I set things up for people to knock over, and it was fun! And for Skywatch, it's not different. In SW, we get to choose celebs to represent our peeps, which was new to me, but not to be daunted. I went ahead and made up journal icons just like I did for Lai and Devin and Io. There's one, up there. He's a linguist (yah, rly), and he gets into stuff. I don't have as much leeway when making up stuff for him, b/c it's not a magical world. I'm cool with that. It just means I find other ways to get immersed - backwardly engineering (and then frontwardly engineering) languages for cultures we find, maintaining an In Character journal for him. I even have a little real life notebook for taking notes in when I'm doing research for my book. (They're surprisingly related, sometimes.)
Anyway, this whole post was about RPing. Thank you for letting me waste your time.
