What I've been doing, cut for your pleasure:
So, some of you may know that i've nursed a love for Stargate over several years. It's never been a burning passion, because it didn't require burning passion. It's always been a "wow, I like this universe. It's so interesting how they integrated real world mythology blahblah" sort of thing. And whenever it came on, I stopped flipping through channels, which is more than most TV programming can claim at this point.
Some others of you may know that I've developed a love of roleplaying over the past few years as well. I've never tabletopped, but I do LARP (Live Action Role Play) and PBeM (Play by eMail). Mostly because they satisfy my needs for social interaction, acting, and writing (respectively - inclusively and respectively. That's a nested qualifier, but I'm sure you can figure it out).
Anyway. In all aspects of roleplay, I prefer an original character roleplay any day. There's little fun for me in choosing a character someone else developed and moving them around in situations. So when I decided to branch out beyond the PBeM associated with my Larping game, I was disheartened to see how many crappy "who wants to be harry potter" "oh no, you have to be this character who was mentioned briefly on page 345 of book 13 and therefore you'll see no action bahahaha," etc. there were.
SOO
The point is I found this PBeM in the stargate universe that requires original characters, deals ONLY with SG teams 4-8 (9 in application process), and doesn't allow anything but the briefest of cameos from cannon characters, mostly just Hammond, since he's the boss. Yay. So I've been doing that. Stepped through the gate, encountered wild alien cats, found a library, fell through a floor, got ringed to a BIGGER library, and my little make-believe linguist is having a grand ol time.

http://groups.google.com/group/stargateskywatch We moved to the most beautiful house EVER. People who helped us can expect their dinner party invitations shortly. (No, I'm not kidding.) We'll have a proper housewarming party later in the month when it's presentable.
Is that it? Seems like I've been so much busier than this... Oh!
Like, everyone, everywhere. Our house has been sick pretty much constantly, giving shit to each other and that kinda thing. Moving totally sucked for dust, and today I just shredded my lungs. Ow! I went home early because I was shaky and flushed after being at work for 3 hours. We'll see how everything turns out.
We're recording sometime next month, two songs for this compilation project for Nice Package. They're psyched about recording us; we're psyched about recording somewhere other than an echo-y bedroom with enough mics and headphones for both of us. We're still looking for that third person. Oh, and the new house (see above) has space for a practice space in the garage. Woo!
