Well - many thanks to those who were 'thinking' of me as I presented my first time to my writer's group.

There were approximately thirteen writers in attendance. Only four had offered pieces for presentation.

All the men wanted details... lots of details. They wanted a name, they wanted a place, they wanted a time... but the women just kind of sighed, before they started their critiquing, and said how poetic the piece was, and how it flowed as a song, and how they really liked it.

I was heartened by those comments and at least know where to place the piece - it was discerned as being literary fiction. Now I just have to look up LF and see what the heck that is.

After the critiquing is done - the papers are handed to you with the notes - one woman wrote how much she enjoyed the story and told me that my writing was far and above what they were used to and NOT to be discouraged with the critiques. I was most happy - especially since I know this woman a little from another group I have joined. She has been sending out query letters for quite some time and is finally starting to get back some positive signs.

I know the next piece I present will be readily accepted for it is a genre that they are used to critiquing...

Again, many thanks for the kind thoughts... I'm glad I joined the group, but I like my 'little' group much better.
