This was written for the fabulous
Porn Battle VI.I chose to write in the small-ish Shelter fandom. The boys stubbornly refused to bring on the dirrrty sex for me (Dude! Where's My Porn?), but I felt that the end result was closer to the Shaun and Zach that I've grown to love. There is just something so solid and imperturbable about them. If you haven't seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it.

Zach felt the shadow that's been cast over his head, the damp sand shifting around his shoulders as the light trail of kisses up his chest stopped altogether. He almost swore, half-tempted to sock Shaun for being an incorrigible tease, but in his mind he saw the sun climbing up the cloudless sky in minuscule increments behind Shaun's patient, playful face as he peered down-the way the sunlight would warm Shaun's lashes, turning them the color of wheat. Something in Zach came to a rest, a quiet unraveling. Here, he thought, was a man who might wait all day for his answer.
"What look?" Zach asked, but did not open his eyes.
Shaun leaned down slowly, the weight of him easing along Zach's body, his stubble rasping against Zach's chin. The scent of him, here, was deeper than the salt of the ocean. "That wistful look. You got something against my kissing technique?" And as if he had something to prove, he pressed deep, sucking kisses along Zach's jaw, tracing the beat of the pulse in his neck with his teeth, then tongue. The water lapped at their waists, a little chilly if not for the body heat he found himself growing accustomed to, a warmth so generously shared. He wasn't sure if he could live without it again.
In the distance, he heard the sounds of a dog barking, a runner's steady pace. He knew he should get up, pull away, but he could not bring himself to move. Shaun had one bare foot stroking absently down his leg, getting sand on the inside of his knee, slipping wetly on his ankle as he seemed focused on kissing Zach to distraction. Gentle strokes, like they had all the time in the world. Here was someone who probably had no idea how arousing that simple touch could be.
"No complaints," Zach replied belatedly. He didn't understand how it was possible, but his limbs felt heavy, his body waterlogged and immobilized by desire, yet weightless, all at once. The kisses stopped again, and he could almost feel Shaun grin against his skin. "So far," he warned.
"Well, I guess I better get back to it then."
"Yeah, I guess you better... in a minute," Zach said, and he couldn't help smiling as he reached out without opening his eyes and wrestled Shaun into the water just as the dog and runner sprinted past them and a huge wave came crashing in.
Afterward, in the car, in the middle of clumsily toweling himself dry, Zach was struck by the sense of-what had Shaun called it? -wistfulness. There was sand in his hair and salt rubbed deep into his skin. He had almost missed this, had almost turned away from what he wanted because he was convinced he should be able to live without. Could he still? He opened his mouth to explain a little bit of what he was feeling, because Shaun deserved to know how much he meant to Zach, how much he has already helped him, but no words came.
With a shaky breath, Zach reached out a hand and touched Shaun's lip. Beneath his fingertips, he felt the beginning of a smile, and knew he was understood.
