I hate Starbucks. Maybe you should too.

There are many reasons why I detest Starbucks, but the recent report I just read (see link above) has put the final nail in the coffin.

It totally boggles my mind why someone would willingly hand good, hard-earned cash over to this bland, miserable company. My friend and colleague comes into work most mornings carrying a gigantic cup of Starbucks fare (it's like a pail filled with brown soap suds) and I never fail to stare with a stupid and insipid look on my coupon. He likely wonders why I look like such a spanner while I think exactly the same thing about him trailing his coffee cup around the studio.

I just don't get why people are so willing to pay extortionate prices for such bad coffee. The last Starbucks I paid for back in December last year was so foul and hideous that I was sick for the rest of the afternoon, languishing at my desk with a chemical aftertaste and teeth like carpet. I remember the coffee actually had an oily film that reflected in the sunlight like a petrol patch on asphalt - an apt likeness in my opinion as these coffees probably don't taste far off cracked hydrocarbons.

Why not go to an independent and get some quality Joe, good service and help support the wee guys? Oh yeah, people can't do that anymore because Starbucks and its crony chain buddies have squeezed out all the little companies.

That's only one of many, many things I cannot bear about Starbucks. I implore you to read the linked article and start hating Starbucks like these guys.
