Appropriate song for the post, since it was lyrics from the original version of this song that were the prompt for the contest. I won first place for the contest at hyouhakuzai_fic for my Byakuya/Yoruichi and Renji/Rukia fic "Threats And Declarations," and I was happy about it. I told my mother and her reaction was "Since you won you don't need to award the prize, right?" She didn't say congratulations or anything, she just doesn't want to give me the $6 when it comes in from my Coaster pass reimbursement for me to get 3 packages paid userpics at scandalbaby. It kind of killed my mood at winning.
::sigh:: Well, sucky life is sucky. But what's really bad is someone made a newbie intro post at one of the Bleach comms I'm a part of, saying they'd read all the fic there and just signed up for an LJ account so they could post their stuff, and I kind of want to go "Are you going to go back and comment on them? Because the authors would appreciate it." I write a lot for the pairing in question and I know I'd absolutely love more feedback for my fics with them. I kind of want to brace them for the bitter disappointment they're going to feel when they realize they'll post and post and get so little feedback that it really sometimes feels like it isn't worth it. I'm cynical, I know, but that's what this fandom has done to me.
Maybe I'm just disillusioned with fandom in general, because I feel some of this apathy in other fandoms too. It's just worse with Bleach. I wish there was a way I could make that change.
But to make this post just a tad bit happier, I did finally catch up on Bleach. And I quite enjoyed it. Kubo got to the action again real quick, Nel is adorable, and I was actually ecstatic to see Sung Sung, Apache, Mila Rose, Loly and Menoly alive and I actually am not really fond of any of them. It was just cool to see them stand up and fight back even if they got curbstomped. I hope Ichigo really lets the creepy commander guy have it. And I can't wait to see which side Ishida takes in this whole thing since he didn't go to Hueco Mundo with him. I just hope Kubo actually explores it decently is all. I'm definitely making sure I read each chapter as they come out, at any rate. I feel stupid for having skipped for so long.
