Who: Daniel Buzzetti, Rachel Conway, Adam Monroe
Where: out and about on Daniel's farm.
What: putting things back in order. Farm-work wise, anyway.
The fence post is being decidedly uncooperative.
It had sagged a bit in the ground, where some of the dirt it had been driven into had given way over one of the days that Daniel and Rachel had been too ill to be out tending to things. All she needed was for it to go back into its anchoring point properly, so she could secure it, and keep this section of the fence from falling over. If that happened, the chickens that used this yard near Daniel's barn might get loose.
For all her pushing and shoving, the fence post has other ideas. After wrestling it for a minute or two, Rachel steps back, swears under her breath, and kicks it. Which solves exactly nothing, but it at least makes her feel better for a fleeting moment or three. It feels good to get her frustrations out, against the fence post, against the situation in general. With Adam and Daniel working nearby, it's hard not to be completely occupied with thoughts of their situation.
But there's a lot that needs to be done, now that she and Daniel are able-bodied again. Sean did what he could to keep things up, while he was healthy enough, but one man with a lot less knowledge than the people congregated here now could only do so much. There's so much to see to, so much work to catch up on.
In the grand scheme of things, this fence post is not so important.
