Who: Michelle Valcek, Peter Petrelli and Andy Dowland
Where: Saginaw, MI and then Greeley, CO
What: Michelle gets rescued.

Michelle buttons her coat and steps out of her apartment building into the bitter cold. She's been subsisting on canned foods from from the closest supermarket, and drinking bottled water. But she knows that she can't survive on that for long. Now, however, she won't have to do so; now she's going to move into a small community, where survivors can work together to make it through the winter. Survivors. Even the word lifts her spirits as she walks towards the intersection where she'll be meeting Mr. Petrelli.

It occurs to her that she was perhaps too trusting, too eager to tell others about herself. She hasn't even met these people in person, after all; who is to say that they should know what she's so carefully kept secret for so many years? But then Michelle looks around, staring at the wasteland that surrounds her. Cars are abandoned on the roads. The snow on the ground is completely untouched; there's nobody around, anymore, to disturb it. She looks back at the footprints her boots have left in it. She's been alone, alone for so long. No wonder the idea of seeing others made her so giddy she forgot to be cautious.

Michelle glances at her watch. She's right on time; Mr. Petrelli should be, well, appearing any second now. She looks at the snow once more. Alex would have loved to see this; she always loved the snow, and always complained about the way the city turned it into dirty slush within a single day. Michelle pushes the thought aside. She can't concentrate on that now, not when there are new people to meet. She can't be the only one who lost the person she loved most; all the survivors must have similar stories. But it still hurts like hell.
