Inspired by
deer_stop I decided to do a thing of my favourite beauty products.
1. Coalface
This is my favourite cleaner ever. It was the second thing I ever bought from Lush and have been loyal to it ever since. If I get a big horrible spot, I use coalface and it dries it up instantly. I know this might sound bad...but I don't use cleanser all the time. I usually just wash my face with hot water (my dermatologist told me so!) but if I'm ever having an oily or spotty day/week the coalface comes out and it goes away! I really like the smell too because it's got liquorice in it which I love. Little bits of crushed charcoal are also dispersed through it for exfoliatey bits. It does make the sink black though! I think it's worth it however.
2. Savlon
Now, I know this will seem weird, but I really cannot live without Savlon. I use it on my ingrown hairs on my legs, especially when they go scabby, and it soothes them and helps them heal. I also used to use it on my spots a lot when I had bad acne and it really helps without drying your skin out. I love savlon! It doesn't have a horrible dis-infectant smell either.
3. Daisy by Marc Jacobs
I got this for Christmas and love it. It's so light and fresh, plus the bottle is really lovely. It was quite expensive though...
4. Vaseline!
I have sworn by vaseline for loads of things. I obviously use it as a lip balm, but it's also equally good over lipstick, just so it isn't too matte, nor too shiny and gloopy like lipgloss. I also sometimes smother my feet in vaseline before bed, pop some socks on and wake up with super smooth feet! Ace. (Also good on dry elbows)
5. Collection 2000 Dazzle Me!
You can really tell I'm a student and a cheapskate from this list can't you? Well, I love collection 2000 and am not ashamed of it! A pot of this eyeshadow only costs something ridiculous like £2.99 and you get LOADS of it. Okay, there's no applicator and it can be a bit messy, but the colour it gives is really bright and it lasts for ages. I usually hate wearing eyeshadows because they are never as colourful as they look and come off if you so much as blink, but this one is amazing. My favourite is a colour called 'tinkerbell' which is a kind of sea-green type colour.
6. Clinique superfit make-up
I have inherited my love for clinique from my mother and this is the only foundation I will ever use. Other ones just don't seem to blend as well and dry my skin out or make it too oily and feel too cakey. This suits me to a tee though. At £18 a pop, it is quite expensive but I only wear make up when going out really so a bottle can last me about 9 months! Their light reflecting concealer is also good, cheaper than touche eclat!
7. Clinique dramatically different moisturising gel
My Mum always used to use the dramatically different moisturising lotion, and it was always given away free in the bonus time gift sets too. I used to steal it occassionally but it was far too greasy for my skin, even the one that is supposed to be for oily skin! Then they made this gel. I fell in love with it. It moisturises but as it's a gel it never feels oily, not even on your hands. The one for normal/oily skin is perfect for me
8. Ma Bar
This was the first thing I ever bought from Lush and began my love affair with the shop. Being a chocoholic and having a sweet tooth, it instantly appealed to me and have adored it ever since. The smell isn't too over powering like some Lush products and it isn't flowery either. It's kind of sexy but also very homely and relaxing at the same time. I always try to make sure I have one of these in my lush stash!
9. Barry M red nail varnish
I cannot live without red nail varnish. Naked toe nails repulse me so mine are always painted red. I love the colour red and it seems to go with everything, and this Barry M nail varnich is just as good as other expensive ones I've tried.
10. Dove Beauty Body Moisturiser
The smell of this reminds me of summer, although I use it all year round. I first started using it the summer I left college. It is so good for my irritable legs, slap some on after shaving and my legs are almost transformed from red blotchy monsters to smooth, soft pins.
