It was great to see these new prints of El Topo and The Holy Mountain, but the screenings were marred by incessant laughter from audience members who were unable or unwilling to see these films as more than mere comedic spectacle.

There was a somewhat spurious example in a recent cult film (which I satirized @ Flipside last year as "What the *BLOOP* Do We Know?" Project) of something similar... that the conquistadors' ships were invisible to the native americans, because they had no 'frame of reference' for such unknown events.

A recent development that I find more compelling is the fact that modern physicists were unable to account for the vast majority of the mass in the univers, until the idea of Dark Matter was introduced. As I have a tendency to seek out similarities, I have noted that the entities known as Loa, or Orisha, or Angels among the African Diaspora are said to inhabit the dark spaces between the stars & planets.
